Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
bit of a mismatch, but john deserves his shot, murray TKO 6
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
I'll just be glad to see him fighing again and for Murray to get some momentum going with his career again. He said recently inactivity is killing his career and although he is still quite young it can't be right for him to be out for the large amounts of time he has.
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
LOL, Murray's in the same position as Barker. Getting title shots but not fighting names. And in this day of age, names are more important than belts, unless you beat a name to win a title.
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
crap fight just a TV title. What has a guy who lost to Ben Murphy and was lucky to beat Henry Castle done to get the shot.
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
no1 else higher up must want to figth for the titlechris s wrote:crap fight just a TV title. What has a guy who lost to Ben Murphy and was lucky to beat Henry Castle done to get the shot.

Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
mcallister is recovering from an injury so he won't be ready for a few months by all accounts, murray's had 6 months out since the thaxton fight, he needs a match up, with anyone who's availableAdamj1987 wrote:same here then i got an e-mail saying this fight was onMrBoxingUK2 wrote:what happened with mcallister? last i heard it was him and murray for the european, british and commonwealth 8)Adamj1987 wrote: no1 else higher up must want to figth for the title
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
To be fair to buckland he won the eliminator for the british and then was bypassed and then won the eliminator for the commonwealth. But then I'm welsh so biasedchris s wrote:crap fight just a TV title. What has a guy who lost to Ben Murphy and was lucky to beat Henry Castle done to get the shot.
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
well you can't fight names when they pull out, can you? two fighters qualify for that (mezaache and kudrivtsev are names on the euro scene if nothing else. the next fighter in the rankings was mcallister, who murray has already stopped).Dioufy wrote:LOL, Murray's in the same position as Barker. it's a positive thing, that murray has got his european ttile shot. some fighters lose their best years waiting to get a shot at this belt. the title should have ben his already by now, in lieu of his stoppages of top 10 EBU contenders thaxton, meager and lawton.
getting the EBU title shot means getting some momentum, everything the fighter needs.
re barker. he did want to challenge macklin, but macklin had vacated and moved up by then. and i bet barker wouldn't say no to defendin against andy lee...
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
Another EBU fight, another joke of a match up. Buckland shouldn't be fighting for the EBU belt.
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
come on, murray should have the title already. if no one else can or will fight him, what can he, and his team, and promoter do? to think, he had a fight with mezaache, for the title, on showtime. some of these guys just aren't willing enough.Deno1986 wrote:Another EBU fight, another joke of a match up. the last joke of a matchup for the EBU title was one of the british fights of the year (barker v belgecham), regardles of what you thought of the opponent (better than expected) or the decision (controversial, at least for me).
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
Andy Murray has expressed his desire to fight for the title and I'm sure if he was offered the opportunity he wouldn't turn it down. Fair enough the Barker - Belghecam fight was a good one but the fact of the matter is, Belghecam shouldn't have had the opportunity to fight for the belt. Is Hennessy Murray's promoter by any chance, nearly sure is?Autobarn wrote:come on, murray should have the title already. if no one else can or will fight him, what can he, and his team, and promoter do? to think, he had a fight with mezaache, for the title, on showtime. some of these guys just aren't willing enough.Deno1986 wrote:Another EBU fight, another joke of a match up. Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
No need to be so aggresive, dude. I know that Barker and Murray want better fights, I was just saying that they weren't getting them, which I believe is correct. If these two were with other promotors then that's better and things would be different. But I was just stating the bleeding obvious.Autobarn wrote:well you can't fight names when they pull out, can you? two fighters qualify for that (mezaache and kudrivtsev are names on the euro scene if nothing else. the next fighter in the rankings was mcallister, who murray has already stopped).Dioufy wrote:LOL, Murray's in the same position as Barker. Murray and, especially Barker are two of my favourite fights, but they're promoted horrificly.
Re: Murray - Buckland for Euro title
The EBU quite rightly want the title to keep moving on.
No point waiting for people who have undergone an elbow operation (McCallister) who have already been knocked out. Nor should Murray wait around for some other no-mark from the Eastern bloc to get a chance.
I'm personally glad that Hennessy has gone down the list and found someone who will fight Murray and got this put to bed, between two UK opponents.

fair enough. but when you think about guys who are being promoted better, like cleverly, getting loads of credit for beating someone who was not particularly good, brancalion...Dioufy wrote:No need to be so aggresive, dude. -Lee McAllister is the main challenger but is injured
-Kudriatsev is the mandatory challenger but won't travel again
-Kevin Mitchell is NO.1 ranked fighter but can be excluded for obvious reasons
-Mezaache is NO.2 but dropped the EBU belt to chase a World Title of some sorts
-Andy Murray is next in line at NO.3

What I mean is A.Murray is fighting these 'ticking over' fights waiting for a EBU shot. He obviously didn't get a call.sg1985 wrote:But John Murray is fighting next month to for the EBU belt.Deno1986 wrote:It's only a ticking over fight probably over 6/8 rounds.sg1985 wrote:Andy Murray has a date set to fight next month.
