Andy Lee opponent named

Post by whiskey »

38-year old Mamadou Thiam http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=bo ... an_id=7898

He's knocked out a load of his wins, something like 43 of 46 opponents, so seems to have a good dig on him.

Although it would seem he's pretty vulnerable too. The mighty Evans Ashira smoked him in 3 rounds about 2 years ago.

Still, at least he is getting busy.

lee is a talented fighter but he's not made the progress i thought he'd made.

once i thought he'd become the wlad of the middleweights, boxing long range to cover up his vulnerabilities and using his decent dig to get good fighters out of there in slightly repetitive, jab-and-grab fights.

that belgechamp guy he beat looks a lot better after that war with darren barker (some feel belgecham won). he probably is a good fighter, the frenchman. willie gibbs was OK also. lee does have talent but i'd like to see him win something meaningful.

i hope he does't end up like dunne, i.e. right place right time, one big win, then thrashed off the big stage before you know it.

Not a bad opponent to be brought in at such short notice. Nice warm up fight before Barker. ;;-)

Never thought I would see 'WTF' in an article written by a professional journalist but in this case it certainly applies.

Looks like a very easy fight on paper. A small, old middleweight, with a dodgy chin, who hasn't won a meaningful fight in 9 years. He won't last the distance so shouldn't give Lee problems.

Exactly, looks like a blow out for Lee. Only point I would add is Thiam is a small, old light middleweight really.

Yeah, I didn't word my post very well. As the limit he'll make is middleweight, I justified his size by calling him small. Hopefully that makes sense.

love the title!

ANDY LEE GETS OLD BANGER

hopefully lee gets this guy out of the way, fights darren barker for the european title, hopefully they can add some kind of world title elim tag to it as well.

this would be much more impressive. i suppose lee doesn't have to outdo barker, or take any big risks, after barker-belgecham (great fight, but barker barely won it).

FFS, Auto, I don't think I could take the Anglo-Irish tension on here mate if and when that gets announced.

Might as well tear up the f*cking Good Friday agreement upon announcement of it.

It wouldnt be like that if Darren barker and his team chose to fight lee instead of proksa as his voluntary (if he can have one before gevor) Barker would get nothing but respect for taking on lee 1st from me and i would imagine the rest of the paddys too.
Lets be honest here proksa hasnt beaten anyone in the top 100 in the world and i would bet barker would take him out in 5 rounds.
Barker needs a name on that resume and lee is much better known then proksa worldwide....
Plenty of money to be made here also. :TU:

What a poor match. Thiam shouldn't be anywhere near a ring, he's been stopped so many times and a couple have been nasty ones.
