Froch to arrive by private jet on Tuesday

LONDON (20th April) Team Sauerland is delighted to confirm that WBC Super-Middleweight Champion Carl Froch will be flown into either North Germany or Denmark with a private jet on Tuesday afternoon. The undefeated 32-year-old missed today´s public work-out in Herning after the Iceland Volcano had KOed his original travel plans. “We are delighted to have things sorted out and bring the Cobra to Herning for his Super Six showdown with Mikkel Kessler,” said Kalle Sauerland. “He will manage to defy one volcano by hiring a private jet, but he will be in trouble when another volcano – the Viking Volcano – erupts in the ring on Saturday night.”

Froch is looking forward to his second-round Super Six World Boxing Classic fight with Kessler. “I am happy that all travel arrangements are sorted,” the Cobra said. “Not that it had me worried – I knew I was going to get there somehow – but I´m glad I can now fully focus on the fight against Mikkel. It will not be a happy night for all the Danish fans in attendance, I am the best Super Middleweight in the World and I am flying in to take care of business.”

Meanwhile, Kessler pleased his home fans by signing autographs for more than 30 minutes following today´s crowded work-out at the Herning Shopping Centret. “I am in great shape,” the Viking Warrior said. “I am glad that Froch has finally decided to show up. Maybe he is a little scared. I don´t know and I don´t care – I will knock him out on Saturday to secure the first three points of the tournament!”

The fight will air on SHOWTIME at 9 p.m. ET/PT as a one-fight card (same-day delay). In Denmark, the fight will be distributed pay-per-view on the satellite-, cable- and IP TV-platform by the following operators: Satellite and IP-TV operator Viasat, cable TV- operators YouSee and Stofa, and IP TV operator TDC. Carl Froch, the World Boxing Council super-middleweight champion, will arrive in Denmark on Wednesday for a head-to-head with rival Mikkel Kessler after citing "private reasons" for changing his travel plans.

Froch was due to arrive at Flensburg in northern Germany on a private jet from East Midlands airport on Tuesday night, and be driven the two hours to Silkeborg, where he is due to be based for the defence of his 168lb title on Saturday.

However, Froch withdrew at short notice. "We couldn't leave today due to private reasons," Froch said. "It might sound mysterious but it is no big deal."

Kalle Sauerland, Kessler's handler, said: "As long as he is here in time for the press conference, that's all we ask."

Promoter Frank Maloney has overcome similar hurdles to ensure Rendall Munroe will contest his WBC super-bantamweight title eliminator against Victor Terrazas at Coventry Skydome on Friday.

Maloney paid £18,000 for the Mexican's 96-hour journey to the UK. Having secured the last seat on a flight from Mexico City, Terrazas flew into Madrid, was chauffeured to Paris, and then taken by Maloney's personal driver to Calais on Tuesday afternoon to catch a ferry to England.

I completely agree. There's a good interview with him from Monday on the BBC where he repeatedly says it's not good preperation mentally, it's getting to him, he's fruistrated etc. He even said he was beginning to relax because he thought the fight might not happen.

That isn't a good frame of mind a few days in advance of getting in the ring with someone like Kessler.
