Berto comes across as a nice guy. He's not perfect, but none of us are & never will be. I'm not making excuses for such comments made by Andre, but look how he has talked about the Haiti devastation - that a subject close to his heart. Has Berto made a donation to the Haiti cause?

Berto, I'm sure, will realize that his commets via twitter were insensitive & he will probably apologize in the near future!

Yeah, all a champion boxer did was make a reference to a woman who has been submitted to abuse in the past by her husband which has now led to her murder as a mutherfcker on a public domain. What's the issue??

I think that's a really ill-informed move by Berto and he's quite rightly getting stick. I don't get the impression he meant bad by it but it's a really stupid thing to say.

Berto's either a misogynist or he's implying Valero's wife was to blame for her death. Either way it's a horrible viewpoint. I hope he grows up.

Pretty fuckking stupid thing to say. Even if you do hate women, how could someone be so stupid and post that publicly? Especially when there are thousands of people who will see it. Maybe he got hit too hard in sparring.

Crazy.

I still read people saying poor Valero, RIP, great boxer who will be missed.

It's like saying Fred West will be missed because of his building skills or Jack the ripper was a really good lorry driver.

The guy is a murderer.

I can see where Berto's coming from, although it shouldn't have been expressed publically. Without the full details of the story, I find it hard to be as black and white as some. It's too early and too tragic to start vilifying the man, or his wife for that matter.

No because the comments at the bottom are from anonymous nobodies that are never taken seriously. His comments are coming from a champion boxer, with a fanbase, who gets people talking when he makes such comments

in terms of content, not in terms of who said them, they are worse. Yes his words reach a larger audience, but that makes them 'louder' as it were, not worse.

It seems a spur of the moment comment made without thought and I'm sure he regrets it. Totally out of character for Berto. He comes across as a nice guy, has set up charities to help the people of Haiti and done much good there. We all say stupid comments without thinking sometimes.

Not quite cowboy..

Valero had severe brain damage - sure, he was probably an arsehole to begin with but his recent behaviour will have been down to his brain injuries - ask any neurologist.. 8)

Comparing an individual who commits acts whilst suffering brain damage to a pyschopath shows your understanding on the subject (ie: a great big zero) but ignorance won't stop you rabbiting on, will it Gomez?

Well there is a biological component to psychopathy, so I don't see whats so bad about comparing a pyschopath to someone who has brain damage. In both cases their condition would be determined by circumstances not under their control (ex: genetics, the environment they were raised in, the brain damage).

Why should Valero be let off the hook because of an injury he required in his twenties, while someone who has born with the predisposition to a condition be stigmatized?

yeah that and 15 years of severe coke addiction. dont think that will have helped the mood swings much.

What next the yorkshire ripper had PMT?

Fred West had a migraine issue and Myra Hyndley had gastro which made them do these things?

You can make excuses for all kinds of things but murdering your wife and leaving your kids parentless for me, and call me tetchy if you will, makes you a murdering scumbag.

good boxer or not. Hope he rots in hell. bastard.

Berto sounds like a typical misogynist ghetto prick (even if he isn't traditional ghetto.)

Societies should be judged by how women are treated, and this makes Berto stone age. What a tool
