If this is true - Christ almighty. You'd think the WBO would maybe have given their verdict a little earlier than the day before the fight.

To be honest, I think that will suit Calzaghe. I think he is really struggling with his weight now and only has one more fight at SM left in him.

Calzaghe should vacate the WBO Title and then fight for the real belt... presumably he would get number one ranking with the WBC/IBF/WBA fairly quickly.... Lacy wants him....

So drop the WBO shit, fight Magee, and fight Lacy in the summer

Makes SN look a right joke - all that experience and they didn't see this coming? Are we really expected to believe that ZDF and the German camp didn't make their thoughts know until 24 hours before the fight?

Led to believe? WTF? ( or to put it another way, no, I didn't actualy get anything in writing...)

Was a mismatch anyway, but you have to feel bad for all those who've booked travel tickets - doubt they'll get those refunded.

You gotta feel a bit for the Magee too... long training camp to be told the day before the weigh in its off....

No sympathy for Calzaghe, he can rectify the situtation fairly easily

Calzaghe should never have been fighting Magee anyway.

Considering the way Magee performed against Reid, Magee is certainly not a legitimate contender. Also the fact that the fight was staged in N.Ireland speaks volumes, it was clearly a poor match and the pomoters only staged the fight there in an attempt to mug every penny out of those loyal Irish fans.

If that fight was staged anywhere else within Britain, and that probably includes Wales, that show would have struggled to sell out.

I am sure the fight will be in the wonderful former GDR in a city like Cottbus. so if the fight will be canceled, you can make some sightseeing....

I dont care who's fault it is, another Calzaghe match fails to happen. I kid you not at least 2 out of every 3 fights of his announced (and maybe more) dont materialise or are delayed. Cant they make it a non title bout?

Magee has no business in there with him, but you have to feel for the guy if he's only told the day before the weigh-in.

I have a feeling Allegedly has known about this longer than he is letting on and has held out to minimise the refunded tickets....

bubi come on mate viet hasnt improved that much. He isnt good enough to take out calzaghe faded or not.

Another twist in the farcical later career of Joe sadly really.

if ever a fighter had the skills but never took the opportunities it was he.

hopefully his hand is now forced to take the bigger matchups.

bet frank is seething tho, what are they gonna do be intresting if a non title affair goes ahead, also for magee, dont like him but he didnt deserve this.

On sky sports last night i'm sure i heard someone say Calzaghe had brought in a team of dietitions and nutritionists because he was struggling with the weight, could all this be a coincidence?, he did'nt look a gaunt as usual at the press conference yesterday, why dont they fight as a non title fight, or just give up the belt because i cant see him fighting Veit anyway.

Veit is of course the outsider. but look at his last fight, worldclass!

Kilburn I agree. While I never liked the match - I thought Magee was as worthy as Salem. I cannot believe that now the WBO have refused to sanction this match - its been agreed for over a month.

Can't blame anyone other than the WBO.
