Re: Moore's parting shot
Looks like your doing the right thing mate, its been an absolute pleasue watching you fight over the years, and although I dont think you ever got the mainstream exposure you deserved you will always be one of the msot respected fighters ever from these shores within the boxing community and the "real" fans. A true warrior.
All the best in the future mate hope to see you training some champions and on TV soon

Thanks pal, your probably right about the mainstream thing, Granada news, which is our regional news, never ONCE reported any of my fights, but it was on there that i'd retired!! Re: Moore's parting shot
Wise choice.
What are you gonna do now? Walk away from boxing for good or go into training or promoting?

Yeah, well do Jamie. Top fighter, but here's something I never knew about you and your career.
"A former European, British, Irish and Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion, Moore also won the Lonsdale belt outright - the only fighter from Salford ever to do so."
WOW!!!

....and that he only fought Jones twice, but we're nit picking.
The important thing is Moore is safe and well and had a good career. He deserved more financially but he has a great family etc behind him. Good luck Jamie...

That Rhodes fight was an absolute belter.
Best of luck in the future.
Best of luck in the future.
Re: Moore's parting shot
I was speaking to Sam about you on Tues night. I still can't think of a fighter, at least on a domestic level, that produced three classics like that.
Best of luck J-Mo in whatever you do.
And thanks.

Re: Moore's parting shot
great career Jamie. U were a true warrior in da ring and a gentleman outof it. Hope I can emulate some of the things u have done in da ring
Re: Moore's parting shot
The only fighter who comes close in recent years, is the also recently retired Graham Earl.Poncey wrote:I was speaking to Sam about you on Tues night. I still can't think of a fighter, at least on a domestic level, that produced three classics like that.

With Moore - we have the Rhodes, Macklin and Jones 3 fight that people will always remember - but additionally. His fights with Logan (always love it when he was the ring announcer for Moore's fights), Jones 1, David Walker (although that didn't quite live to the hype), and Scott Dixon were also good fights.
Re: Moore's parting shot
Good luck Jamie in your retirement mate Your a Great person and will do fine Hope to see you around good luck mate Jane
Re: Moore's parting shot
Listen fella's i've got a few belter's that have never been on sky, like my debut when i got knocked down in the 2nd, my fight with Delroy Mellis, when i got rocked in the 3rd after winning easily on the back foot and ended up in a right tear up. I'll get em converted to dvd from video soon and get someone to teach me how to upload them to youtube.stujones wrote:The only fighter who comes close in recent years, is the also recently retired Graham Earl.Poncey wrote:I was speaking to Sam about you on Tues night. Re: Moore's parting shot
Bit cheeky like but once u got them on dvd fancy selling or trading a copy of them for me? Got most all your other fights that have been on TV (and will have all of them by then) would be nice to have a complete career set for you.Mooresy wrote:Listen fella's i've got a few belter's that have never been on sky, like my debut when i got knocked down in the 2nd, my fight with Delroy Mellis, when i got rocked in the 3rd after winning easily on the back foot and ended up in a right tear up. Re: Moore's parting shot
I was at Everton Park for that fight, first time i'd ever seen you fight, and I was a fan from then on. You brought some right mean looking bastards with you to that fight!Mooresy wrote: my fight with Delroy Mellis, when i got rocked in the 3rd after winning easily on the back foot and ended up in a right tear up.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do Champ, it's been a real pleasure following you these past few years.

a GOOD one would be the first facey fight, as moore was rocked or down and facey was down lots of times. that was an exciting one.
i really want to see the moore v mellis and dixon.
Re: Moore's parting shot
That was a mighty impressive performance.stujones wrote:David Walker (although that didn't quite live to the hype)
Real man against boy stuff, I remember feeling a little sorry for Walker during that one.
Re: Moore's parting shot
Yep, throughly one sided. Walker didn't do a thing better than Moorematthewcb wrote:That was a mighty impressive performance.stujones wrote:David Walker (although that didn't quite live to the hype)

Domestic fights don't get any better than Moore against Macklin and Jones the 3rd time, both all time classics imo
Re: Moore's parting shot
He completely dominated him. I think he was at his pomp that night (Moore).matthewcb wrote:That was a mighty impressive performance.stujones wrote:David Walker (although that didn't quite live to the hype)

As we had too very very exciting fighters, it was hyped as a "sure thing" to be fight of the year.... it didn't quite turn out that way, too short and one sided. Walker gave it a good go, as always, but was ultimately outclassed.
