Tony Jeffries vs Nathan King Should Of Been A Draw!

Post by Cotto16 »

That fight should of been a draw. No one deserved the win in that one.

King landed some really eye catching shots, that hurt Jeffries.

Felt sorry for King there, he deserved a draw there...... :shame:

And I also feel Tony Jeffries is not going to go far. I feel like he dosen't like or react well to getting hit. He has a leaky defence, not a big a puncher and not much ring generalship either.

Especailly in the Super Middleweight Division or Light Heavyweight Division. Degale, Groves, Bellew, McIntosh, and Anderson would take him apart. :OhYes:

You obviously weren't there, sayin "in Sunderland" So you watched it on sky, where they showed 4 of 6 rounds.
King is a very tough kid but no way did he win the fight, and with regards to your "reacting well to getting hit" he took a belter of a shot clean on the chin that he didn't see, his legs stayed solid and he was fine. Showed a great chin to me.

Haha original poster shot himself in the foot with the 'in Sunderland' comment, hahahahhaha. Agreed, Sky showed 4 of 6 rounds so how the hell do we really know what happened, King did well and landed some good shots, but a draw? Who knows but to judge it off Sky coverage is daft.

Unless the Original Poster scored the Sky rounds 3-1 to King.... we can surely assume there was no KD in the other rounds.

Jeffries mistake was going in there and trying to blow him out early. He's still learning and thats another lesson learned no doubt. The lad had took De Gale and Dodson to points and has only been stopped twice.

As I say its a valuable lesson learned.

didnt see the fight myself, but too say jeffries has no power is a pathetic statement :!:

he's a big lad & probably loses power getting down to 12st as he mAKes froch look small :!:

king of recent fights has not looked as good as he used to as he's got alot of mileage.

As for jaffa's power  got one of the best left hooks in the buisness.

My opinion, great learning fight for him. Will have learnt more in that fight than in all the previous blow outs he's had.
Won the fight, king is a good test, especially over six and eight rounds rather than four.
He has things to work on yes, but he needed a fight where someone is punching back in order to learn.

I imagine Jeffries got more out of that than his other pro fights put together.

Bit like Travis Dickinson against Rasani - these fights are good to get in early doors.

Jeffries should not be written off on that last night and anyone who does is premature IMO

I thought Jeffries looked very lethargic. I'm just wondering if the planned move to Super Middle is going to be effective. He didn't looked gaunt but I thought he was looking lethargic from the off and just looked off colour generally.

Nathan is a tough customer though, and compare his performance with that of Kenny Anderson - then it doesn't look so bad.

I'm going to stop coming on these forums because of stupid threads like this!

a draw come on!!

after the fight Nathen King came in to my dressing room and he is a propper gentleman ..

he said to me it was the hardest fight and i was the best he's fought in a very long while
and he had 4 month notice for this fight where as he's took other fights in short notice,

now if you look who he has fought in he's last 5 fight WOW what a compliment that is to me!!

i learned so much from that fight like a few of u said and i appreciate the support and advice from you's!

Jim Watt and Adam Smith never helped by saying i was in trouble that makes everyone watching think that i was ! they where pretty negitive towards me- thats the problem with being an Olympian , if you KO people in 1 round you get stick , if u have a hard fight and go the distance get caught a few times u get stick -

cheers people

You're a gentleman for coming on here and answering back and i hope this thread dosen't stop you from coming back on here and don't take things too personally as its better people are talking about you then not talking at all.

Your still going through the learning process as a professional and having tough fights like this make you better in the long run, people are just being overly critical and expecting perfection.

Anyways keep winning and proving them all wrong :TU:

i've said from day 1 that jeffries is overrated and won't go far. I stand by that. Egan easily easily outboxed him in the olympics. Jeffries just isn't good enough for world level honours. I doubt he'll even crack european level.

Actually he was hurt by a big shot, thus having to hold right away. Watch the fight again and you will see this. Even Smith and Watt picked up on it, by screaming Jeffries is hurt.[/quote]

I have nothing again Tony, seems like a nice lad.

But that still dosen't hide the fact that, that fight should of been a draw. And one round should of been 10-8 to King aswell. Felt sorry for King afterwards, he deserved a draw. Jeffries didn't do enough to be awarded the winner.

And I feel he won't get past British level. I see no start quality in him or no X factor. And up to now I seem to be right, by last nights performance.

I feel George Groves is the best in that Division and deserves the next shot at the British Title. Shame he can't seem to get a crack at it....

Jaffa, yet again you are another boxer who comes on this forum who thinks just because a fans opinion is different to yours then its a stupid thread.

Just remember its the fans who keeps the promoters in business - its the fans who switch on their TV's to watch you box.

You are clearly a talented boxer - no one goes to the Olympics and gets a bronze if they are average - the problem with you and many other boxers is that you think you can shout people down merely because they have opinions different to yours.

Totally agree Mate.

These Boxers are so touchy, when you criticise them or call one of there ''Mates''.

We as fans have a right to. We are allowed are opinion.

How can anyone say Tony Jeffries looked good last night? Come on stop living a lie. :shame:

To say John Simpson will stop Smith or that Groves would destroy Paul Smith. Is like commiting a crime on these forums. As all of them gang up and instanley start going mad at you..........

For the record - I think Jaffa did extremely well against a very tough opponent - you only have to look at King's record to see he has run some very good boxer's very close indeed.

Jaffa - has had a bloody good learning fight and it will do him well for the future - For example I can distinctly remember Carl Froch having a bloody close shave against Charles Adamu - Froch has done well since then.

Putting my preferences to one side - I actually think Jaffa will do well - however my personal opinion is that it wont be at Super Middleweight as that division is hotting up big time and I think Jaffa will lose out there - he is huge at the weight which suggests to me despite the denials otherwise - it may take a little more than the Team are stating to make Super Middleweight.

But I go back to professional boxers who visit this forum - if you cannot hack the fans opinions on here - f*ck off - we are entitled to the opinions and whilst it is excellent people visit the place they have to accept what goes with it.

I don't think we are going to see Tony Jeffries ever again by the looks of it.

You are absolutley right though Spud, this forum belongs to us and the only place where we can share and argue
our opinions, and yeah - the punter is the most important person in boxing - with punters you have purses and interest that leads on to greater exposure and other financial opportunities - ask any world class crown green bowler how important a fan base is in giving up the daytime job!
