Correct
Joe Frazier actually fought in the olympic finals with a broken right thumb... so instead of fighting as a southpaw which was his original stance, he had to turn and fight in a conventional stance and this won himthe gold medal. Joe Fraizer then kept this stance and called it his own.
I heard that one of the reasons Frazier favoured the left hook was because whilst in his early teens he was attacked by a bull and has his left arm broken.
When it healed it didn't heal straight, so his lefy arm didn't fully extend at the elbow and so was slightly 'hook shaped' (no pun intended).
Frazier claims that this enabled him to 'whip' the hook round easier than if his arm was straight.
I have never heard of Frazier fighting Southpaw.

The broken thumb was sustained in his contest before the final, so no new style, he just gritted his teeth and got on with it
