What are the best James Toney fights to watch re. skills?
I know the Barkley fight was a great performance, just wondering what others are worth having a look at?

Toney-Jirov. Very good fight.
He also showed very impressive skills and looked very good versus Evander Holyfield.

His fight vs Iran Barkley.

3 of the best 1s have been mentioned Barkley fight is very impressive he counters with some quality shots at times knocking his gumshield flying he uses shots from all ranges and angles such as his jabs and right hands to set up his body shots, right and left uppercuts etc, Jirov fight was awesome as well as he was the underdog who deals with such a big technical southpaw and a quality finish where the body shot sets up the finishing head shot and also the Holyfield performance was enjoyable to watch even thou I was always a huge Holyfirld fan too but Toney breaks him down whilst enjoying it and even showboating showing good defensive moves riding plenty of shots. Also the Mccallum fights are good showing great technical skills from both fighters and the im Littles fight is a great last round when he has a bad cut.
I like watching his highlight stuff and his sparring sessions

Prince Charles Williams. big, strong, lightheavy comes down to 168 and spends 12 rounds trying to batter Toney against and through the ropes
Toney gives a masterclass of loose, relaxed counterpunching, with his back to the ropes for what seems like 3/4 of the contest, under extreme pressure from a big strong man and under-rated fighter in PCW
I've often thought this might be Toney's best performance, as PCW was a much more live opponent than the revivified corpse of Barkley was when toney feasted on it.

He would have done exactly the same to Barkley in his prime - neverless - it was a fantastic display of backfoot counterpunching - look it up on youtube!Counter-puncher wrote: I've often thought this might be Toney's best performance, as PCW was a much more live opponent than the revivified corpse of Barkley was when toney feasted on it.

The last part was a general comment to anyone who hasn't seen it, I am happy that you have the fight in your DVD collection though - good for you!Counter-puncher wrote:I know, and I've got it on DVD, thanks.Carlos-Wigan wrote:He would have done exactly the same to Barkley in his prime - neverless - it was a fantastic display of backfoot counterpunching - look it up on youtube!Counter-puncher wrote: I've often thought this might be Toney's best performance, as PCW was a much more live opponent than the revivified corpse of Barkley was when toney feasted on it.

I had £50 on a Toney points win in that fight....... I'm still furiousMachoMan09 wrote:Seconded.Godfather of Dole wrote:...check out Peter I for a lesson in how to teach a fat, slow and possibly retarded Nigerian eactly what boxing is all about, only to get bum raped by the judges.
Toneys 2 fights with Peter reiterated the point that Toney has got the best chin in boxing, he took some flush shots off one of the BIGGEST punchers in the HW division and never looked to be in trouble. You couldn't knock Toney out with a jack hammer
