Absolutely brilliant.

Good learning fight from Liam who is going on nice and quietly - no one knows what he will do until he has proved it beyond doubt - however it is merely my opinion Liam Cameron is going to be a very special boxer indeed - I hope he proves me right.

Liam will get people to sit up and take notice when the time is right - so much for Smoggy McNeilly to say he has no power.

steelcity, i suggest that you develop a somewhat thicker skin mate.

mcneilly knows what he is talking about and as a boxing journo it his responsibility to make honest comments. cameron is not massively powerful - that is a fact. i happen to know that ian does rate cameron as a prospect. he hasn't said that cameron won't develop his power and certainly hasn't said anything to suggest that he doubts cameron will have a good career.

to say that his opinion 'means nothing' is disrespectful to ian and to the opinions of fans and journos, without whom we wouldn't have much of a sport.

i hope liam and nicky both continue to build on good recent results and add to the ever thriving sheffield scene. smedley, in particular, is a talented lad and i hope he continues to rededicate himself to his boxing and achieve his potential

Ah, I see.

He doesn't look like a big puncher to me. Stopping Spitko is good stuff though.

Cameron is a very nice boxer, and has obviously been well schooled.

Par for the course mate - though Liam himself doesn't seem too bothered.

Boxing's a mental sport - toughest game in the world rammed full of the most ultra-sensitive people.

Both young Cameron and Smedley are worth keeping an eye on, regardless :TU:

I've yet to see Cameron fight, but he seems to constantly be appearing everywhere despite been non-telivised. Reminds me of when Jamie Moore came through. He beat Olympic hopeful Scott Cardle 10-0.... thats impressive.

Ian,

The last time I said about a boxer going places it was Carl Froch - people slagged me off from Carl's very first fight - even after I had no association with Hennessy Sports I said he would go places - I am now stating that about Liam Cameron - no I am not saying he is world class or anything like that as I believe a boxer has to prove that in the ring - the boxer has to prove he has what it takes - however it is just my humble opinion Liam Cameron if he can keep his discipline and listen to the right people like Chris Smedley and Clinton Woods - the lad could be very special.

You can see with a lot of fighters the way they handle the media, handle sparring, handle the general rigours of boxing - sometimes they lose their big fights before they have even stepped through the ropes because either the self belief or discipline has gone - I truly believe Liam Cameron has made a superb start and with the news I am hearing about what is going to happen with his future - all you people on boxrec will be able to make your own judgements on him.

With regards Niki Smedley - now there is one very talented kid - he has had problems with discipline in the past - I am told that is all behind him - all that lad has to do is f*ck everyone else's opinion off and prove to himself that he can do it - if he does there is another lad who could make a few rumblings.

You're right, Chris - my opinion means f*ck all anyway. I can't even remember saying/writing it but I wouldn't have been having a pop anyway; it'll have just been my observation with Super Geordie Spud stirring.

Would love to see both lads go to the top. :TU:
