That is a ridiculous account of the fight. First off, Arreola did not land a single clean, hard punch all night. The periods where Adamek was backpedalling were because Arreola was virtually running at him (and off course missing with all his punches). When a huge man like Arreola is charging you, you have to back up quickly. Adamek was not hurt at any period and even when he was backpedalling he would quickly resume the boxing clinic he was giving Arreola.Autobarn wrote:most ppl are saying adamek won clearly. but something is really getting up my nose. kevin iole's report for yahoo sports and i think AP is being widely circulated and he's saying he had it 114-114. he's emphasised that it looked like arreola would stop adamek, but arreola simply hurt his hands, and adamek then started winning. the man - who clearly cannot be bothered - then suggested adamek could have a rematch in newark! fight should have been newark NJ in the first place, as adamek ia abig draw there. and why would adamek fight a rematch, when - in evryone else's eyes - he controlled the big guy? you read some real garbage, sometimes.
Adamek was landing almost every punch he threw and you could see the results on Arreola's face, a bloody nose and shut eye. Arreola was outclassed and I have no idea how anyone could have it closer than 117-111. I had it 118-110 and believe I could have even gone further and possibly scored it 119-109 or even 120-108. I wasn’t even cheering for Adamek and I didn’t expect him to win, but he put on a great display of skill. Every single round Adamek landed over and over with clean hard shots, while dancing out of the way of Arreola's wild and desperate hayemakers.
And as far as the hand goes, Arreola did not change his gameplan or approach to the fight in any way when he suffered the injury. He continued to load up on wild shots with both hands, and off course miss by miles. This was an easy fight to score and anyone who sees it as a close bout should not be scoring fights for a major media outlet.
