Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
It is often said that youth is wasted on the young, and wisdom wasted on the old, but watching the first three episodes of 24/7, Mayweather has made me realize that there's a third truism to add: talent is wasted on the brash.
It just makes them worse.
Look at Floyd. Fair enough, the b@stard didn't have the best chance in life to grow up to be a decent human being, because he was brought -- excuse me, dragged -- up by such a pathetic excuse for a father.
But, he's really done even worse than that.
The man is utterly reprehensible.
He's fighting one of the great fighters of the last 15 years, and, not only that, but a nice guy who has not done anything to deserve the disgusting abuse that has come his way. You'd have thought he could show some respect, but instead, he throws disgraceful and utterly puerile insults at Shane. Nazim Richardson was right when he said that Shane acts in a way that celebrates his countrymen and parents and family -- which was clearly a barb thrown rather precisely in Floyd's direction.
But it's worse, when he isn't emptying his mouth of his unlettered, pejorative-laden language, or bragging about his wealth in the most embarrassingly ignominious way imaginable, he's acting in a way that could -- literally -- be described as callow if we were watching a nine year old. How does he think he looks on TV? Is he proud of that?
Sadly, he probably is, which shows you where his moral compass lies.
He's talented -- perhaps the most talented person I've seen step into a ring. But he is utterly loathsome, and he makes me want to not pay for the fight, just so that I don't have to line is pockets.
Come on Shane. Do boxing a favour, eh?

Couldn't agree more. And he cracks on about this drug testing being his way of 'cleaning up boxing' then acts like a total tosser in front of camera.Making the drug testers wait hours for a pot of his piss. He's an absolute joke.
Says 'people only see this, they don't know me'.... well wouldn't want to you jackass.
You'd not waste any tears on him if he got his ass whupped... sadly don't know if there's anyone around quite good enough to do it.
But every dog has his day.

I think Floyd does it to get peoples attentions and thus more viewers leading to more dosh. But, there is also a real sting in his tail, which is unfortunate.Mosley seems like a lovely bloke and to treat him with such contempt is terrible. As it happens, I like Mosley's chances in this fight. He has got the speed and power to trouble Mayweather.I can see Mosley ko'ing him.
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
Not just that, mate, but have you seen those security m0therfcukers he surrounds himself with? Those sons of bitches look like they're popping 'roids like M & Ms, and anyone can see it. So, you hanging around with those guys, but you're cleaning up the sport, right?DIRT SUGAR wrote:Couldn't agree more. I haven't seen the programmes to which you're referring Carbo and don't think I'll waste my time on them.
In very occasional moments he comes across as a really nice chap and then reverts to absolute sh1te.
I would love Mosley to beat him and I think he has a better chance than most.

I want Mayweather to win, because I want to see Mayweather v Pacquiao. Then Manny can beat him up
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
This is exactly what he wants - love him or hate him you will probably want to watch him. I agree his comments are out of line but he'll be singing Shanes praises after the fight.
Also he needs to get a new training routine as I think we are all getting tired of the same old pad work and skipping. I think Mayweather's 24/7 best before end date is approaching. We need to see the behind closed doors training and not his media routine.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
Is what Mayweather is saying about Mosley any more 'appaling' or 'disgusting' than the things Ali said before the Frazier fights. Didn't he call him a "big, ugly monkey" or something along those lines at one point? He publicaly humiliated Frazier before their fights through the use of personal insults. That in my opinion is far worse than anything Mayweather has said, but of course it was Ali, he was the greatest and the sun shined out of his arse.
I find Mayweather's quotes rather funny at times. He seems to like creating a 'bad guy' image before fights.

Without a doubt Mayweather is a tool of the highest order. I refuse to believe all of his childish and classless behaviour is "an act". But I can't see past a Mayweather win in this fight. Shane still has power but his speed and reflexes aren't what they once were. Shane is one of the reasons I got into boxing. I'll be cheering for him but I'll be honest; I'll probably have a few pennies on a Mayweather points victory. If Shane wins though I'll still be happy. I'd gladly lose money to see Mayweather KTFO!

Wow, you're easily impressed aren't you? Do you think Floyd invented that annoying habit? terrific boxer, great talker, great for the sport of boxing
To be fair to Floyd, it's hardly surprising that he is brash, loud and offensive, look at what he's got for a role model, crack cocaine's poster boy and street poet laureate Floyd Senior!
Floyd does himself and boxing a disservice I think by acting like some jive talking crack dealer all the time, it may be an act, but it's all people can see, and if he wants to misrepresent himself as a bling, shit talking hoodlum, then more fool him, don't then start complaining about lack of respect when everyone hates your dumb ass.
I hope Mosley bashes him up to be honest, Shane is everything a fighter should be, brave, dedicated, respectful and exciting. Even at 38, I give him a real chance.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
Mayweather is a nice guy, like Naz was a nice guy, Eubank was a nice guy, Ali was a nice guy. The "Money" Mayweather is all an act to generate more interest. He wants to play the bad guy. It works because he is so talented. It is funny at times. I liked when he got young Floyd "Cash Flow" Diaz on the pads... "ITS CASH FLOW BABY! YOUNG CASH FLOW ON THE PADS!!"
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
That's the sticking point for me. One brilliant performance against a man with a style suited to Shane's, stripped of his plaster power, (probably) well aware of the aftermath awaiting him as a result of being busted pre-fight. Judging that performance means taking the surrounding circumstances into account.stevieb_8006 wrote:I JUST CANT GET THE THOUGHT OF SHANE STRUGGLING WITH MAYORGA OUT MY HEAD THO.

If it wasn't for that win we'd be looking at Shane as an Oscar level opponent for Floyd, i.e. might make it interesting but will likely be too far removed from prime to upset the odds, basically a 'big name' on Floyd's record which should have an asterisk next to it.
I've let every one of the 24/7 runs swerve my thinking, I'm getting the same thing with this one. Shane looks like he's in training to fight the devil, he's acclimatized to the weight, unlike Oscar and he's mentally strong after the Margarito win, again, unlike Oscar who was essentially 1-3 in his previous 4 before the Mayweather fight. I can feel myself letting hatred and desperation cloud my judgement. If Oscar could give Mayweather a decent argument, surely a better prepared Mosley could muster enough to make it interesting.
Mayweather's a shallow, disrespectful piece of sh*t, who doesn't have the track record to act in the manner he does. I'm sure he'll be extremely apologetic after squeaking past Mosley, just business I'm sure... take that money and then cash out big on Pacquiao, God willing, getting KTFO in the process.

Mayweather is classic example of a man who is ruled by money.
Cash is his God and he will lower himself to any level in order to secure as much of it as he possibly can.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
I'm unsure if its an act to portray himself as villain and sell more PPVs or he genuinely is this crass. I do think he likes to get in his opponents head, try to get them angry so they make mistakes or feel inadequate.
Someone like Hopkins or Toney would murder Mayweather in the trash talking stakes. Hes such an easy target with the fake gangsterisms, crack head parents, only friends that are bought and paid for, the fact he was likely robbed by his friends, imasculine fighting style. Enough head fuckery might make him go toe-toe.
Personally I'm a Mayweather fan and a huge admirer of his skills. I hope he beats Mosley and Pacquaio because I prefer what he does in the ring. But this 24/7 does make me embarassed/ashamed to a be a fan at times
BTW don't put any money on Mosley, this is going to be a clinic

re margarito stripped of his plaster power. of course, we don't know when he cheated and when he didn't. (personally, my view is he looked like a different fighter after the paul williams defeat. he seemed so confident v golden johnson, cintron (in rematch) and vs cotto. it's like he didn't care what he took, so long as he could land. had that extra spring in his step, extra sharpness in his shots.)charlieb wrote:That's the sticking point for me.
