Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
The thing about Mosley is he looked really bad from Forrest-Delahoya 2, it certainly wasnt like he improved
As for Margarito, I question how much difference the bricks made, did they really do that much more damage? He threw 100punches a round against Cotto. Margarito has a pretty good resume before his Williams loss, who knows how long he cheated or how much it affected the results, maybe it would have been the same results

I think it was an ape; Ali called Frazier an ugly ape. It was awful and completely overstepped the mark. But two rights don't make a wrong, and whatever Ali, James Toney or whoever has done in the past when it comes to trash talk, doesn't make Mayweather any less of a prick. If someone tells me I'm fat, I don't get any slimmer by drawing attention to a similarly fat person down the road.Deno1986 wrote:Is what Mayweather is saying about Mosley any more 'appaling' or 'disgusting' than the things Ali said before the Frazier fights. Didn't he call him a "big, ugly monkey" or something along those lines at one point? He publicaly humiliated Frazier before their fights through the use of personal insults. That in my opinion is far worse than anything Mayweather has said, but of course it was Ali, he was the greatest and the sun shined out of his arse.
I find Mayweather's quotes rather funny at times. He seems to like creating a 'bad guy' image before fights.
Meantime, the difference between Mayweather and Ali is that Ali was genuinely funny, most of the time, and also had a loveable, almost naive side. Mayweather's not funny, an bar his for-camera charity work, he's just a prick.
Yeah, that kid was amazing.rob12344 wrote:Mayweather is a nice guy, like Naz was a nice guy, Eubank was a nice guy, Ali was a nice guy. The "Money" Mayweather is all an act to generate more interest. YOUNG CASH FLOW ON THE PADS!!"
But let me tell you, Naz was not a nice man. Try and find out about when he sparred Claude Abrams, or some of the things he said about the Ingles, or find out what Johnny Nelson has to say about him. Not a nice guy at all. Arrogant know-it-all who was generally very much like Mayweather.
Ali wasn't so very nice. He was complex and loveable, but he was also a racist who bought properly into the Nation of Islam bull. And he really overstepped the mark in his Frazier trash talk, and in his brutal, torturing performance against Tyrrell, and, to a slightly lesser degree, Patterson.
I really don't think it's just for the cameras. I've heard reports that he acts just like that off camera. He was investigated for 'making it rain', his trick of throwing 100 dollar bills on a dancefloor in a club and watching people scramble. Getting a kick out of that is lamentable enough, and says a lot about his personality, but he was investigated because he was doing it with fake money (which is illegal to hand out unless its made clear its fake). How low is that? It's like buying a fake gucci and bragging about it.
Urgh.

I'd love to see that fight, that would be an absolute humdinger. If Mosley wins, I've no doubt it will happen.Carbo wrote:I think it was an ape; Ali called Frazier an ugly ape. he does play up to the camera a lot.
he knows the brash comments sell fights.
still an annoying twat who i'd love to see get worked over.
i see mosley making him work for it.
but just falling a bit short sadly. :(

Yeah, true, another factor which dents the probability of the Sugar of old showing up for one last dance.Autobarn wrote:the thing is, we can never be sure when mosley wasn't cheating either. we know he was in the DLH rematch, but how many others?
Right now I think Mosley gives anybody a decent argument, but Mayweather would've likely been neck and neck with Shane back in the day (roided up or otherwise). Right now, Mayweather's streaking, still prime, has age and miles on the clock in his favour.
Still, it's also hard to ignore how much more Mosley pushed himself than Mayweather, His record's deceptive for someone who was pretty much on the same road as Mayweather, he's fought much tougher fights. Could Floyd have done any better against a prime Oscar, Winky or even Forrest for that matter? I have my doubts.
There's this tiny speck of hope in the back of my mind that the skill difference isn't as wide as it seems and that Mosley's more a victim of his own bravery rather than any kind of lacking in regard to his losing efforts against great fighters. For the kind of personality Mosley is, this is THE motivation needed, if the possibility exists, to regain anything close to the near prime mental and physical shape needed to dispatch the likes of a Mayweather.
Fingers crossed, wishful thinking n'all that.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
Is Floyd really as bad as he comes across? I'm not so sure, I don't think he cares if you love him or hate him, so long as you buy a ticket, and to be fair if we had a father like he does chances are we'd end up being rude and arrogant.
I read a nice story about him a while back, he was was playing xbox boxing online against some little kid from the uk, he ended up talking to the kid and his family on the phone for a while and sent them some sighned boxing goods.
Ethier way I'm hoping Shane can pull it off, as he's a gent and a good role model for youngsters. Doubt he can though.

It will be a killer, and a chiller, and a thriller, when I get the gorilla in Manila
Ali, before the "Thrilla in Manila" against Frazier
AND OTHERS........
Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wildlife.
Ali
Joe Frazier is so ugly that when he cries, the tears turn around and go down the back of his head.
Ali
I always bring out the best in men I fight, but Joe Frazier, I'll tell the world right now, brings out the best in me. I'm gonna tell ya, that's one helluva man, and God bless him.
Ali, after the "Thrilla in Manila"
I said a lot of things in the heat of the moment that I shouldn't have said. Called him names I shouldn't have called him. I apologise for that. I'm sorry. It was all meant to promote the fight.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
Floyd's probably a cool guy away from the cameras.
Don't get his public persona confused with the 'real' Floyd.
Also, thats quite a strong attack you put together, on the back of him calling Mosley some names... c'mon mate thats part & parcel of the build-up for these kind of fights. Don't take it all so seriously!! You can be sure Mosley isn't.

First, why would anyone think that someone is completely different to every time they see him? And second, why would you ignore the stories you here? Accused of a shooting and murder, going round clubs trying to act the big man by throwing 100 dollar bills around -- even though they're fake -- treating his Dad like that, and even things like calling himself Money May.
The guy is clearly a twat.
If you want to ignore all the evidence, and instead just fall for some cliche about it being all for the cameras, then that's up to you, but you're wrong.
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
The guys an arsehole, there's no doubting that. I think he wakes up each morning and does not know who he wants to be that day, bad guy, good guy, pimp, hussler, childrens role model, crack dealer, multi millioner show off, charity giver, do-gooder etc etc. He's a fcuk up of the highest order and the sooner someone gives him a pasting the better it will be for the sport...... and strangely enough, it might just do him some good also.
Got to say it though, i think he will stand Mosley on his head. I've not anylised the fight in full yet, i plan to watch quite a few tapes of both Mosley and Mayweather later in the week, but from what i know of both guys, i dont see how Mosley can win this.

I like Mayweather, and hope he beats Mosley.
Mosley was very disrespectful after the Marquez fight, though I was
dissapointed that Mayweather did not make the contracted weight.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
i love mayweather the boxer but find mayweather the people horrible. I don't think he can use his upbringing as an excuse as for example although my upbringing was good, i lived around alot of gangsters and also went to prison myself. but ultimately every man is responsible for their own actions regardless and u don't see me mouthing off at anyone and everyone inboxing even when they have said bad things about me. I have learned from my own experiences and also want to set as good an example as possible to the youth. And this is what mayweather should be thinking about because like it or not he is a role model to many youngsters and they will think its ok to act the fool as mayweather is doing it. rant over, lol.
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
I'm not really bothered by what Floyd say's, it's his approach to his career that annoy's me. In my mind the best guy's should always be looking for a challenge, but Floyd seems to make it as difficult as possible to make fights with his main rivals. It's a pain in the arse when your always reading about why a fight isn't happening, rather than why it is happening.
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
mosley is definitely more of a warrior. he would have been favourite, at least the prime lightweight mosley would have, and the welterweight mosley who outslugged DLH in their great first fight.charlieb wrote:Yeah, true, another factor which dents the probability of the Sugar of old showing up for one last dance.Autobarn wrote:the thing is, we can never be sure when mosley wasn't cheating either. we know he was in the DLH rematch, but how many others?

mosley definitely has skill. i felt he was great vs collazo and margarito. but i doubt he has enough of that ferocity left. he did have the beating of floyd but perhaps not anymore. i hope he does, though.
agreed, mosley has taken big risks in his career - risking looking absolutely shite at times - whereas with floyd - who went blatantly for the money, judah, gatti - you can feel the matchmaking and the handicapping and the weighing up of risk vs reward.
Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
I don't want to watch these shows then, because I don't want to end up wishing that Mosley rips his head off, because I don't think Mosley can.
It's a massive fight alright but when it comes right down to it, surely in all areas Mayweather Jr can do everything Mosley can do -and then a bit more on top.
If that is the case then Mayweather Jr v Pacquiao will happen, and it will be an absolutely stupendous occasion.

Re: Floyd Mayweather is an Appalling Human Being
I think Mosley can knock him out. He recently seems to have developed a left-hook in which he turns his wrist on impact - it's a great punch. If you want to scrutinise the punch, it's the punch that knocks Mayorga out and the one that gets Margarito reeling and eventually knocked out. It really is a superb punch.

Of course, most are unable to do so. Take Hatton vs Floyd for instance.
