I can definetly warn you NOT TO GET TISCALI UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

They basically pulled the plug on my service without telling me, beause someone else had put the BT line in their name. Despite this when I phoned them to ask what the problem was, they didn't know, and I was without service for almost a whole month. I was then told I had to write in to get a refund despite this.

They keep sending me letters demanding payment for my broadband, even though I pay by direct debit, and the money has been in the bank.

Their customer services are fornicating useless, they just say anything to get you off of the phone as fast as possible. Useless calcutta pudenda!

On the plus side, they are very cheap. I pay 24.99 for a 3mbit connection.

However, if you decide you don't want them any more, it will take them weeks, sometimes months to free the line up so you can get a different provider.

I would recommend Wanadoo. Recently voted best home Broadband ISP provider and currently they are doing a 1mb line for the same price as a 512k line (about 17.99 per month if i remember correctly)

I'm sort of stuck with them now too, as If I leave them, I'll probably have to wait months before they take the taf off of my phone line, which prevents any other ISP from providing broadband.

Have a look at http://www.ispreview.co.uk they have forums and ratings about all the suppliers.

I'm with ntl and have never had any problems. In fact I heard today that they've upped the broadband speeds for all users, but I'll have to check this out when I get in.

If your after unlimited downloads per month then the cheapest I found was `The Utility Warehouse` 1.1gb connection, £21.71 per month.
I`ve had it since xmas and had no problems(so far)

Yep. I got wanadoo at the start of the year and have had no problems at all. £15 a month I think I got it for.

NTL customers pray you never have a problem. They have THEE worst customers services ever. They direct your call to India and your stuck having to listen to some almost totally non-understandable guy reading technical info out of a book about what he should do. They NEVER listen also. You'll tell them the same thing over and over. I had to call them NINE times to get a recent problem sorted. Almost 2 weeks it took to get sorted.

Everytime ive had a problem with NTl the customer server has been top notch. They even phoned me back.

To upgrade your NTL speed you have to visit this link. make sure you check the prices too, they say there is a new cap on each speed, 3meg speed has 30gb cap per month, but ive already downloaded at least 50gb since upgrading 3 weeks ago and nothing has happened :)

sounds like they share customer services with Tiscali. I had some dude with an impenetrable accent telling me over and over again to 'replace adsl filter, and will be ok.'

Of course, it turned out that in fact they had pulled my ADSL connection at the request of BT because of a name change on the line. Amazingly though, it took them three weeks to figure out they had terminated by service, and another week to remedy it. Useless fornicating pudenda.

Like someone else said, NTL are very good, but pray you never have any reason to phone them up.

I needed to cancel my contract with them cos I was emigrating to Australia. It was impossible to get hold of them! I had to move out of the house with the broadband account still open (bear in mind you're meant to give a months notice as well!!!).

In the end I managed to get the MD's email address - sent him an email saying how I had tried loads of times to cancel and I now needed it cancelled with immediate effect etc... He emailed me back within an hour to say it had been dealt with.

I know someone who took so much shit from NTL customer support (including some teen prick actually trying to take the piss down the phone) that he went to their HQ and started picking fights. Nothing serious came of it though.

I had a dial up with NTL also my phone/tv package.

Yes their customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with.

Transferrred to Wanadoo Broadband and pay less now for 1Gb than did for my dial up.

Yesterday I got a call from NTL advising me I had an outstanding bill.

I f*****g cancelled it on May 2004.
