Hennessy and tv

Now the BBC have pulled the plug on boxing, what is Hennessy going to do?

Anyone heard if he's got any more tv dates lined up with anyone else.
I was thinking , how about CH4, they cover sport, do a good job on the cricket front and horse racing.

What about Eurosport? They are always showing shows from the continent.

In my opinion Eurosport are probably Europe's most serious television broadcaster in terms of their commitment to showing boxing.

the only thing with eurosport is the limited viewers, for the last show on the BBC there were 2million viewers, so that shows that boxing can still be a major player when it comes to getting the people to watch

Are you joking? Fair play, the only way you can see Eurosport in Britain is to have Sky and so in this sense Eurosport doesnt have the potential viewers that British terrestrial TV does.

However Eurosport is literally beemed across Europe, and is certainly not short of viewers.

channel 4 are pulling the plug on the horse racing,more people what a black and white film then they do the horse racing...they they'll have some extra money knocking about...

channel five could do with adding to their domestic sports programming, other than the uefa cup games it's all american sports,NFL,baseball,uspga golf... plus they already have boxing courtesy of espn,

ITV....didn't the pull the plug on boxing after the benn v gerald mac fight?

Don't think so...they showed Hamed after that. But it wasn't long after.

Lets be honest. Boxing is in a terrible state, worst than it has ever been. It is no coincidence that ITV dropped out of boxing, BBC has recently announced it is to do so, and that Sky has also recently scaled back its Boxing coverage.

Any TV executive with money in his budget, know's that live British Boxing will not provide his TV channel/station with value for money.

The blame for this lays almost exclusively at the feet of top British promoters. It is these people that 'have' the best fighters yet are too happy to milk loyal crowds by putting on second-rate title defences against third-rate opposition.

I would agree that certain promoters have gone down that route, but Hennessy seems to give some value for money fights, and with Witter and Froch signed over in America it gives some hope of good contests being made in the future

Yeah totally agree. Mick Hennessey has certainly been a big breath of fresh air to British Boxing and is definetly the exception. When I said "top British promoters" I was referring specifically to the more established promoters and wasnt including Hennessey in my criticism.

Wouldnt Boxing in this country take a turn for the better if Hennessey took over allegedly's Sky contract. What with Sky's money behind Hennessey, Sky would get real value for money and us punters would see some real decent fights.

Could Sky dump Warren and get Hennessey? That'd certainly spice things up. I think Warrens well in with Sky aledegdly though.

Don't forget that Warren when he started served up some cracking shows, and even now with Hatton v Tszyu coming up, and also Skelton v Williams looking likely, things may be picking up.

With Hennessy coming onto the scene, the other promoters can't keep serving up rubbish title or rubbish bouts

it wouldn't have anything to do with the sky contract would it?

it looks like harrison v brodie will be made for june 3rd in manchester,the day before the hatton v zoo fight......that just takes the piss...piss poor undercards and 1 top class(?) fight to finish off....
