YES!!! Get in there Enzo!!!
Must admit I'm happier about this result than I've been about any other for ages. I said on another thread that I wanted him to pull it off as he comes across as such a decent guy, and to do it in such conclusive fashion will hopefully do wonders for his confidence and get him back on the world 'map'.
I think it's fantastic that he was willing to go over to Russia to get back on track and I hope the Enzo 'express' gathers steam again in the wake of this and he can get back into world title contention :TU:

I'd totally forgotten about this! And, also, I knew fornicate all about his opponent. But credit to Enzo, he looked good in there. Can't argue with a first round win when you're fighting for the European title. Maccarinelli looked trim there, very sharp.

won't do enzo's career any harm, i suppose. well done gettng the win away from home, but you'd have to be more excited maybe for the younger fighters whose recent EBU title has given their career progress and momentum.

but what next? are there any real hard nuts gunning for that european title?

there have been some absolute european title wars of recent - mezaache-kudriavtsev rematch, rhodes-moore, munroe-maludrottu, barker-belgecham, mezaache-thaxton, romanov-melero, ulrich-kanfouah.

will mac be ok if he ends up in THAT kind of fight, vs a determined guy who can take his shots and keep throwing?

You would have to make Enzo the underdog vs most top european crusierweights but I would love to see him pull of some shocks. The guy he fought last night was some way behind being the top crusierweight in Russia never mind Europe. Valery Brudov, Grigory Drozd, Alexander Alexeev and of course Dennis Lebedev would all rank above Kotlobay. And all these guys can punch. That being said, Enzo can really crack too which will always make things interesting. Best of luck to him I say - it will be a fun ride while it lasts thats for sure!

On recent evidence you would have to say no he would not when considering the way he went down to both Aflobai and Lebedev.

And of course the way his leaky defence was brutally exposed by a good fast powerful puncher in David Haye.

I think it seems on that performance - winning the European title - his confidence is improving and he seems in just better all around physical condition.

Maccarenelli has always been good at getting overmatched fighters out of there quickly because he is a fast powerful attack minded fighter.

Look how quick he got Bobby Gunn out of there - then Gunn went 4 rounds in another World title fight.

He got Bruce Scott out of ther in just 4 rounds too - Scott had gone 7 rounds and 12 rounds in previous fights.

So this fight was a quick expolisive performance - but his defence is suspect and so is his chin - so in a fight where he has too take alot back - there has to be alot of doubt still.
