From my count there were 106 title fights contended by 38 different fighters in the past 10 years the best year for title fights being 2000 with 20 the worst being 2004 and 2006 with 8 fights involving 9 fighters how many British fighters in world title fights will there be this year?
I am also going to attempt to make a similar list for the nineties as well i know the obvious ones such as Eubank Lewis Hamed Benn Hoko but can anybody help with more obscure world challenges? (WBO WBA IBF WBC only?)

Interesting list.
For the nineties, I can think of the following off the top of my head:
Steve Robinson, Chris Pyatt, Steve Collins, Duke McKenzie, Colin McMillan, Robbie Regan, Glenn McRory

Wow there are waaaay too many belts. No wonder the sport is marginalised.
Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
Multiple belts aren't necessarily a problem unless they stop the best fighters in a division fighting each other. There are multiple titles in other sports too, Tennis for example. In any one year, there can be different grand slam winners, who may not be the same person nor the world number 1. Similarly, there are different belt holders, but boxing fans generally know who the number 1 in a division is and where to look for independent rankings. More belts mean more title fights and more television and public exposure for the sport.

Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
Would you class Michael Bentt as British? He was born in London...
Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
Possibly might throw him in there. Im really interested in challengers that people may have forgotten rather than the big names as everyone can remember them and im too young to remember all the fighters from the early 90's i hope to do an all time list for the past 150 since boxings inception I suppose it will get easier the later i go as there were less titles though might be harder as fewer people to remember them.
Just as i write i rememebr one Holligan vs Chavez

Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
For 2010 don't forget Khan. He's fighting in a couple of weeks.
Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
When the fights occur for definite i will add them to the list he still could pull out with injury etc

Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
Great stuff guys keep it coming looks like there were a lot more Brits challenging in the 90's than the 2000's. Would love to be able to make a definitive list for future reference not sure if it has ever been done.
Re: Every British world title challenger year by year
Adrian Stone vs Shane Mosley (2001).
