Linear/Lineal Champions aside. Who for you was the toughest heavyweight of the the 1990s.

For me it was Ray Mercer.

Agree. McCall was a hard man too but not as mentally strong.

Id say either Mercer or Morrison..
If any1 saw Morrison vs Hipp then they would kno. Morrison showed alot of heart in that fight. Two broken hands a broken jaw and still knocked Hipp out. If that guy had Mercers chin he would of been the top dog in the 90s.

Is Herbie Hide on for comedy value?
Bowe flattened him about 7 times with missed punches.

I think McCall... mentally weak... but physically very durable

Are you stupid? The question is about fringe heavys/contenders, not linear champs!

Tommy Morrison and Ray Mercer are two tough, tough guys. I voted for Tommy just because I think Mercer will get more votes. Both very tough guys who came to fight.

Morrison's still only lost like 2 or 3 out of about 45 fights I think? He beat Mercer, Foreman and Ruddock. He reckons he never actually had HIV, which is interesting. I've just been listening to an old podcast from a boxing radio show that was held here in England last year where they interview Tommy and he reckons he never had it.

He never beat Mercer, Ray nearly killed him and blew him away when they fought.

See now thats another thing Tommy got badly KOd in that fight and came back the same fighter. Not 1 bit gunshy. Which is a sign of character and heart!

Actually, Morrison was never the same after the loss to Mercer. Just like the more well known case of George Foreman, Morrison was "damaged goods" after his first loss. The pre Atlantic City version of Morrison would have never lost to Lennox or Bentt. In fact, if Morrison hadn't been "damaged" in that fight, Lennox probably would have never worked up the guts to even fight Morrison.

I think it was more a case of women and drink then the brutal KO he got from Mercer. My main point was that he wern't gun shy. He still came in there to take ur head off! In fact apart from the Foreman fight every1 he beat after Mercer he KOd them. Although I think he had a 10 rd draw sumwere...
Wen u say he wood never hav lost 2 LL I don't agree. Funny enuff tho the Morrison that fought Mercer was the best version I've seen of him. But if he came at Foreman like that he would of lost in the same fashion. Lol

It is possible he meant fringe contenders. Nobody could be that obtuse.

I never edited my original post, where does it say edit on the bottom line of the post? Nowhere! It's clear you didn't read the first post of the thread. It's obvious who is brain damaged here.

You're beyond ignorant, now. You're a liar, to boot. We all know the, "Edited" signal is patchy --- sometimes it appears, others, it doesn't.

Ask yourself the last time anyone said, "Man alive, that Henry Akinwande has got to be one of the toughest HW's of the 90's!"

Image

It's a recurring theme, at this point. His knowledge is simply at a level of depth where he'd be better-suited to Current Scene than Boxers Of The Past. That's as, "nice" as I can put it, btw. I think it's a plenty-generous assessment.

The real question is... Could any one of them have withstood Chris Eubank's patented 45-degree kung-fu death punch?

& would it have separated their vertebrae?

I think we should be told...
