Saul Alvarez - could this chap look any more irish??
Re: Saul Alvarez - could this chap look any more irish??
Are you thinking of his brother Sean Alvarez?
Re: Saul Alvarez - could this chap look any more irish??
wasn't mayweather going to fight this guy, in mexico?
remember before all the drugs testing pallarva, mayweather was considering fighting a mexican teenager in mexico or matthew hatton over here?

I think that was only a ploy by Golden Boy to raise Alvarez's profile in the States. They would never stick a 19 year old hot prospect in with Mayweather.Autobarn wrote:wasn't mayweather going to fight this guy, in mexico?

Teenager Saul Alvarez Nearing Main Event Status
Apparently he's already quite popular in Mexico. I've been keeping an eye on his record for a while now, but not watched a full fight yet.

don't know if he was with golden boy back then.
alvarez (if it is the guy) is apparently massively popular in mexico.
it's strange that mayweather was considering novelty fights incl matthew hatton, for easy money. especially with him being some kind of PPV god at the moment, with some optimists expecting his next fight to do 4m buys.
i suppose he must have had some uncertainty prior to the marquez fight.

I like this guy - I like the novelty value. HE must have suffered in the MExico heat!
Boxing-wise he looks a little easy to hit; but fights in that classic MExican deadpan way....

That is just spooky. He looks nothing like a Mexican and the first time I ever saw him, I thought he was Irish.......

He looks a little like Nick Quigley
Re: Saul Alvarez - could this chap look any more irish??
His origins are from the Basque areas of Spain, which isn't surprising when you look at him because a lot of Irish people have ancestors from the same area.
Seems like a good fighter, not ready for the top guys at the moment but he's young and still has time to develop.
A nice exciting fighter though and he can really punch. Very popular in Mexico, considering his age however you'd expect him to fill out and I'm guessing it won't be too long before he's at 154.

Thats a myth

The first or the 2nd bit, because the 2nd bit is a fact not a myth. The first bit is just something I've seen on other forums several times but could be wrong. However genetically the red hair has got to be linked to something, and it's going to be somewhere in Europe.Brit Ryan wrote:"His origins are from the Basque areas of Spain, which isn't surprising when you look at him because a lot of Irish people have ancestors from the same area."

I had one english chap named shaun in my year in school who had red hair very bright kid. Id also make a bet there is more red heads in the england and scotland than the whole of ireland.Deno1986 wrote:Barry big balz wrote:Donegal, most popular hair colours are dirty blonde, brown and black.Deno1986 wrote: What part are you living? Wouldn't be anything to do with a lot of English people having an Irish bloodline though would itBarry big balz wrote:I had one english chap named shaun in my year in school who had red hair very bright kid. least common is the the red head, just my 2 cents.
Re: Saul Alvarez - could this chap look any more irish??
It's definitely not the most common colour hair around but they are a few of them. Never thought I would have a conversation about gingers on Boxrec.Barry big balz wrote:Maybe your right...
