fair enough, martin_g i may have overstated what i was saying and I know what you mean about making the fight fit the finish- which is a nice phrase by the way- but i still definitely see that left hook as being much more and better than some sort of desperation 1 in a million sunday punch

Eastman didn't listen to him, Froch doesn't listen to him. He might give good advise but he is missing something as a trainer and corner man when his charges ignore him constantly.

Why would Eastman want to be trained by a guy he beat though?

Isn't the majority of HS fighters trained by him still? Most of them don't loo that skilled under him and get in wars.

He is a good trainer end of story.

To get Froch to that level where he is competitive with a Kessler despite his many flaws is an achivement.

Its not McCracken its just that Froch is just a little shy at the top top level. No disgrace and still a very good fighter as well.

Huge respect for him - wish he had that little extra to make him an elite fighter, but he does not and that's no-one's fault.

Robert McCracken is one of the best 'young' trainers around anywhere. He's done a tremendous job with Froch.

The fact that Eastman may not have listened to McCracken all of the time probably tells you everything about the man that Eastman is (e.g. he's not convential).

I dont accept that if a fighter doesnt listen to every instruction of his trainer then that somehow equates to a short coming on the trainer's part. At the end of the day the trainer is there to train the fighter and get them into good shape for the fight. How the fighter then actually decides to fight (regardless of what tactics are discussed before the fight) is a matter for himself, nothing the trainer can do about it other than point out the errors of his charge at the end of each round.

Lets not forget Boxers/fighters are probably the most single-minded professionals in sport and in the heat of battle its easy to go off task.

If Eastman or Froch had such an issue with McCracken I assure you they wouldnt have kept him as trainer and continued to have paid him the 10% from their many fight purses.

Robert is an excellent coach and a fantastic person i wish him all the best in everything he does.you can take a horse to the well but you can't make it drink springs to mind.
