Last nights card.

Post by Hounddawg »

Last nights card was a bit of a snore fest in all honesty.
I couldn't honestly tell you if 1 of those fighters were going anywhere because they were all pretty badly matched.
Good to see Langham back, he adds a bit more to the lighter divisions.

Big bob has to retire finally.
Alex did look impresive against a stoneage Bob, he needs to get a good local heavy fight secured, but really should not call Danny Green out, it's a bit like Alex who???Stick to your weight class and win a national title first, then world title, then you can start requesting novelty fights.
Les Sherington had trouble with Williams tonight, he got caught quite a few times and lacked the power to get the washed up Williams out, who has been destroyed in his last 7 fights. What was everyone off tap last night, calling out Mundine!, how about the comment that Willaims was 1 of the best fighters to ever come to Australia...... :o .
Les should maybe consider a rematch with Gare or Pittman 1st or the very tough Bolling and then repeat the level of competition 3 times then maybe call out Mundine, it would be a start at least.

I hear Darchinyan is fighting on the May 20 Fox show(Free), it's a good direction for Fox.

I suppose Rubin's 29-8-1 record did not look bad, until you saw that 6 of the losses were his last 6 fights. Sherrington did look sharp against him, and only the ringside commentator thought Williams had a hope after the first couple of rounds. I did not see him causing Sherrington problems, if you fight somebody with nearly 40 pro fights and over 100 amateur fights you do expect to get hit, but Rubin's punches caused Les no problems. He took them and kept coming.

Bob Mirovic probably had his worst loss ever last night. He should not fight again.

Vic Darchinian's fight on May 20 is against a Filipino flyweight has who fought mostly at light flyweight. It is a warm up fight and would never be considered PPV.

^Fair wrap up fella's.

I still can't quite place Sherrington. I think he should really go after a Pittman rematch as that might give an indication of where each of the fighters are at...

I agree, beating Williams and Taylor are good wins, but don't tell the full story as both are past it.

As Sherington said, he's still learning, what better way to see how much with a televised fox show featuring a rematch with Pitman.

I do agree, but when Les enters a ring with a fighter who can still punch and he gets hit that many times, he'll be in trouble.
He's kind of fighting a power punchers fight, when power isn't really his game, he'll need to be able to mix it up when fighting stiffer comp. Last nights fight didn't tell me a lot, but it did explain how he's been knocked out 4 times already.
