So, who wins Floyd vs Pacman now??

Post by rob12344 »

Make no mistake, this fight is now going to be the next fight.

Who wins?

I have to pick Mayweather.

However, Mayweather will have a very difficult first few rounds. The first 4 rounds are going to be danger rounds. We have seen a pattern with Mayweather. He is a counter puncher and needs to adjust to his opponent. Until he does, he is vulnerable. We saw Judah give him trouble, Mosley really gave him trouble and all early. Even Hatton was doing OK early. Marquez landed a peach of a right hand just before he was knocked down in the second round. When Floyd made the adjustments, it was all over.

I think Pacquaio really has a big chance early. We saw Floyd badly hurt tonight and one more well placed punch might have put him onto the canvas. I was shocked to see him so badly hurt but if you look at the punch, it landed on the point of the chin and was a perfect right hand. And Mayweather had been nailed with another absolute peach of a right hand a few seconds previously. I don't think Pacquaio has the one punch power Mosley has, but he can definitely wobble mayweather if he lands.

Mayweathers mistake in those fights was starting strong and aggressively. He took the fight to Judah and to Mosley and was vulnerable. He knows Pacquaio cannot fight going backwards so I think he might try to fight in a similar way against Pacman. What he needs to do, is fight very defensively for the first 2-3 rounds, suss pacman out and then come on strong. He will be naturally bigger and stronger.

What a fight this will be!!

Mayweather for me.
The man has no weakness with which an opponant can base a training camp around and once he gets into his rhythm it's impossible to knock him out of it.

I'll go with Mayweather, but he's just got to show some balls and fight him now. Stop all this 'take the drug test' bullshit and fight him if he thinks he's the best.

He's a great fighter no doubt, but he's been polishing off lighter or older opponents for too long now. Fight the man of the moment and seal his legacy now!

I felt Mayweather beforehand but after that showing I'm even more convinced - I've no doubt that Mayweather is untouchable at the moment. He's just sublime.

Mayweather is out of this world - Merchant tried to pressure him & I'd say it will go ahead.

Just can't see anybody beating PB.

Pac should avoid him.
Mayweather is a different league unfortunately.
I can see Paq going for it and being countered all night then eventualy stopped.
Good fight for the fans but not a good career move for Manny.
I reckon he wont abide by the piss test to avoid him personaly.

If Mayweather can soak up the inevitable early pressure from Pacquiao then he'll begin to take control the longer the fight goes on and take a decision or maybe a late stoppage. Pacquiao is very good but Mayweather is crafty as fook and will likely have too much for Pacquiao.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Apart from round 2 Shane's shots looked like they wouldn't have broken an egg. Pacman would have been a lot more intense than Floyd with his pressure. Saying that, I'm a big Mayweather fan and I thought he was awesome tonight. Showed a lot that some people claimed he didn't have.

Listen, Theres only one reason Mosley was in that ring last night.....

Money.

Its over for him & he's lucky that wasn't a hospital job last night.

Pac-man would have eaten him.

So you agree that Pacman would have stopped Shane?

I think he would have destroyed him, lets be honest here - Mosley has a big shot but everything else was exposed last night with ease for what it really is - tripe.

Remember, Mayweather was rusty.

the welterweights are so effing overrated.

mayweather and pac need to fight each other. mayweather is too sharp for these smaller guys and museum pieces. and pac is just too busy and mobile and dynamic for the natural welters out there.

Pacman knows PBF has his number, thats why he backed out of the last meet on the pretence of being scared of needles

That's a unique take. Most people seem to think if you impose unprecedented conditions that the commission doesn't require that's it's you who are trying to back out.
If Pacquiao agrees to Floyd's blood tests but then Mayweather insists on choosing the nutritional supplements he uses and Pac disagrees would this be another sign that Team Pacquiao are running scared?

This is the most important fight left in the sport and I think that this will still be a stumbling block. Pacquiao's side will want something in return if they accepts just to not appear as if they're giving in. I can't think what that could be but maybe holding it at Light Welter could do it, i don't think that weights are that important for a fight this big and it would still be seen as deciding the best of the Welter division. Maybe old fashioned $$$ will do it.

Floyd can really do it all, he really was control on the inside which i thought might be a rough place for him. I was 55/45 for Mayweather before last night but now i could see a late stoppage. As Pac will get more reckless as he gets more frustrated. His pressure/workrate won't help him but his southpaw stance might as Mayweather's style simply shuts down orthodox fighters.

At least Mosley has the 2nd round to hold onto i predicted that Mosley would push Floyd harder than he has in years but lose a UD. He hurt him badly and injected some drama that you rarely see in Floyd's fights so i hope he can be satisfied with that and retire.

Have to admit I am a PAC fan and thought Manny would beat PBF, after watching last night's fight I feel PBF would now win. He was in a different class.

Unprecedented conditions?? He is only asking for the sort of tests that are asked for in the Olympics, that can hardly be compared to nutritional suppliments! I think it is amazing that Pac can use the fact he has to undertake proper drug testing as a stumbling block!
