That'd be the fight where Joe didn't get up from the first round knockdown.

If calzaghe comes back then he should aim to fight at super middle - he wasnt as impressive at light heavy.

I could pretty much guarantee he wouldnt make his first comeback fight against Bute.

But if he had a good warm up fight i would put money on him to smoke Bute.

It will never happen anyway.

is it two or three more wins he would need to equal rocky marciano's record?

Joe's on 46, so 3 more. If he really does make a come back, don't expect him to be anywhere near as good as he was against Lacy & Kessler. That Calzaghe has gone. He has declined, and it's not the extra weight that did it, imo.

Vitali retired for 4 years, sometimes a lay off does a fighter good, come back feeling fresh and re-energized.

a comebacking calzaghe would get killed by bute. also, he'd potentially pull out of the fight a couple of times. i think joe had his day, and he'd become a bit of a liability, especially for someone like bute who's already selling out big arenas and getting good money on HBO.

i think if someone is knocked out of the super 6, perhaps in a controversy or a robbery, then bute could pick on that person. or he could hope for pavlik to move up.

Even if Calzaghe does come back he is likely to have plenty of self doubt. No way he takes on somebody as tough as Bute.

Joe Calzaghe got into a vicious, drunken row with a friend over his refusal to go to bed after an 18-hour bender.

The ex-boxing champion began ranting at his pal outside the Zuri bar in Las Vegas at 10am yesterday after the man cautioned him it was time "to get a few hours' kip".

Calzaghe, 38, told the older man to "F*** off" before adding: "Let's go to the toilet."

The Welshman - exposed last month for taking cocaine - and the man then went into the loos in the huge MGM Grand hotel.

Fifteen minutes later, Calzaghe emerged blearyeyed.

Shortly after, he went up to his room.

A witness told the Sunday Mirror that Calzaghe started drinking at 4pm on Friday: "Hours later he was talking at a million miles an hour and acting very manic."
No prizes for guessing why he wanted to go the toilet with his friend. No, not gay sex, MachoMan.

I have just read that report online. It is quite simply toilet journalism. Absolute rubbish and written in that style that sadly appeals to the masses.

"let`s go the toilet", "emerged bleary eyed", "was talking like he was manic" etc etc

This kind of crap is not worth the paper it is written on. If people didn`s subscribe to this nonsense, it would have no outlet.

Imagine writing for one of these rags, it must be soul destroying knowing that you have reached the very bottom of the journalistic ladder.

the boxers themselves perhaps need to pull themselves together and stop giving opportunities to the tabloid trash. and they need to stop slagging each other off through the papers. they need to know when to not comment on things. if the only coverage the tabloids wantt o giveis this rubbish, then don't give it to them as it just makes boxing look bad.

an out of retirement calzaghe would be "bleary eyed" and "talking like a maniac" after a few rounds with prime bute.
