I think it`s ridiculous every time he says it. It`s boxing, not childrens television.
I watched Huck v Minto on ARD (German Channel) earlier last night. Minto`s corner were swearing like hell and it never bothered the German commentator. Refreshing change.
Living in Norway I have seen a presenter on a childrens TV program say "and in Great britain, he is what they would call a fucki*g god damned sucker of cocks". I had to chuckle at that one.

It is ridiculous to be honest, especially when you take into consideration the fact that people are more likely to hear the same sort of language on the street, in the workplace, in school etc.
Just a little question though, if the watershed starts at 9pm or 9:30pm or whatever it is, what time does it end?![[icon_e_geek.gif] :geek:](./images/smilies/icon_e_geek.gif)

I seem to remember Adam Smith excusing Ricky Hatton's language about forty times when they were covering one of his press conferences. ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Well prudes can stay up late too.
HBO have a 'strong language' warning at the start of the broadcast so Sky should do the same and leave it at that. Constantly apologising for something which is pretty much inevitable is just stupid.

Adam Smith and Jim Watt were the worst I have ever heard last night.

The best was in the first televised fight last night after the first knockdown.
Watt: He's throwing at will, nothing's coming back
Literally one second later, KO the other way!

I've mellowed on him but his commentary is still terrible - I was cringing last night when about halfway through the Mayweather masterclass he was talking about it as if it was a modern-day Leonard vs Hearns...can't remember the exact words but was talking about it as if there were huge swings of fortune in an evenly-matched bout rather than it being essentially a one-sided beatdown bar the two big rights Shane landed in the second round.MachoMan09 wrote: Smith gets a lot of grief but he is alright in my book.

They were bad, but not as bad as Rawling and McKenzie on the Froch fight last week. That was unbelievably awful.Finch wrote:Adam Smith and Jim Watt were the worst I have ever heard last night.
5.30 I think. That's when the porno channels switch off anyway so I'd presume that's when.banjo wrote:Just a little question though, if the watershed starts at 9pm or 9:30pm or whatever it is, what time does it end?

Too true - Mayweather's corner f'ed and blinded the whole way through the fight. Not to everyone's taste, I admit, but its an inevitable part of the pro sport.Shirow wrote:Well prudes can stay up late too.

The HBO commentators didnt excuse or apologise for it once: boxing is the hurt business - if you find the swearing troubling, perhpas its time to take up badminton...

This is the right way forward. A warning like they put before a Sky Movie would be fine.Shirow wrote:Well prudes can stay up late too.

Smith has a lot of knockers. His enthusiasm entertains me.

Did anyone notice on the repeats (I only watched the repeats too because for some reason they were HD when the live broadcast wasn't) how the Ellerbe and Roger swearing was muted out.
All you could hear was "Box this ", "box this "
Maybe they censored Smith's apology too

I've never understood why they apologise for every little swear word. So it's okay to let us watch two men beating each others brains in but God forbid if one of them says a naughty word. It is pathetic!
Re: 4.30am in the morning - Adam Smith "Excuse the language"
The best swearer was John Stone 'Stoney' in John Ruiz corner, look it up on youtube, everyword shouted at the ref was mf cs mf cs.......

Agreed about Rawling, he's the worst in the game in my book....atrocious and smug.chrisfinch wrote:They were bad, but not as bad as Rawling and McKenzie on the Froch fight last week. That was unbelievably awful.Finch wrote:Adam Smith and Jim Watt were the worst I have ever heard last night.

It is odd, anyone who is upset by language but is happy to watch two men beat the sh1t out of each other is a strange cookie IMO. I doubt it is Smith, he's probably got a producer screaming at him in his ear piece.rob12344 wrote:Anybody else think that this was ridiculous?
