I seem to remember in one of FW's interviews not long after signing the Olympians he said Calzaghe earned 17m under him?

Thats not the case you MUG.

I have been backed up in this thread by a couple of posters in regard to Hameds wealth and deals, etc.

The finicial purses are rough estimates - but they are educated guesses.

*Also to the guy who said Calzaghe was paid £1 million for the Veit rematch - it was more around £700,000. :TU:

Hamed earned a decent wage outpointing Cesar Soto

Hamed had so much money - he was bored and didnt know what to do with it

One time he went down his parents house and emptied a black bag with £500,000 in cash on their living room florr and told his parents that was their spending money for them to enjoy themselves

Another time it was winter and snowing outside - so Naz rang up and ordered a £60,000 Landrover to drive through the snow.

Another time jealous cowards tipped a tin of paint over Naz £200,000 Aston Martin - out of sheer jealously because they could never afford one themselves.#

Also a Bank Worker was once charged with defrauding £10,000 from Mr Hameds bank account.

After taxes Haye would have done well to clear a £1 million for Valuev

I reckon he did clear a million - but no way did he bank £4 million.

Adam Booth takes his share as well - and Haye pays him extra than the average spit bucket holder - cos Booth is his best mate.

Depends on how much tax them have had to cough up.

Haye is a tad exagerated on £5m unless him basing himself in the tax haven of Turkish Cyrpus has done him a favour.

I'd expect the Valuev fight to be worth about £1.5 - 2m once they have factored in the licensed premises money. I heard it was £5,000 to show the fight in a pub.

Hatton vs Mayweather must have been worth an absolute packet to Ricky. I bet it ended up about £15m - £20m in the end with tickets, site fee's HBO & SKY money.

Calzaghe was on a $5million guarantee from HBO for Jones, plus £2million from Setanta. Hopkins, although he wasn't fully paid, and Kessler were HBO and Setanta, He supposedly made £1.5 million off Lacy, Bika and Manfredo were both HBO plus Sky and I believe he was on a £600,000 on everything pre Lacy. It all adds up, he made 20 defences after all.

it wouldnt of been 5000 pounds to show it in a licensed premises more like 250-500. When i ran bars in Central London a Sky PPV boxing event was worked out against the rateable value of the site. I ran a sports bar in Camden for a short time which was a big unit on the high street and we would pay 350 quid for a PPV show but that was in the 90's.
Maybe ive added a zero on there then mate, but i'm sure there was an article somewhere talking about the earnings from that bout and it was in there somewhere - and it was thousands, not hundreds they (perhaps mistakenly) reported.

jim wright1 wrote:According to The Times sports rich list published yesterday, 4 Boxers made the 100 richest UK sports star list

Lennox was easily the wealthiest of the boxers with an estimated fortune of £95 million.
Hatton was the second richest on £29 million.
Hamed came in third richest boxer on £ 22 million.
Calzaghe was estimated to be worth £15 million.

Incidentally, Haye was estimated to be worth £5 million.

I wasn't surprised about Lennox and how much he earned but I didn't realise Hatton's wealth compared to his peers!

That is of course if the estimations on the list are anywhere near accurate.

I was also surprised at how far back Haye is, surely considering his achievements so far he must be worth more than that?
I think Hatton got about that for just his two fights with Manny and Floyd so i reckon you can put at least another 10-15 million on that. I imagine Haye will overtake him though, what would fights against the Klits generate?

It must have been a mistake, my mate ran a huge SU bar and they paid £300 to screen Tyson Bruno 2

Blimey, this one got everyone going crazy !

Here's some of the points that have ben mentioned (As I understand them).

Naz's estimate is too low and so is Calzaghe's. Hatton's is a little high but not by much. And nobody has mentioned Lewis. Although he is way ahead of the rest, his estimate is also too low !

Some of the points people are arguing about on here are very simple to correct because they are matters of public record. For example, Calzaghe did get over a million for for the Veit return. This fight was won by purse bid and as a "Super Champion" boxing overseas Joe got an 80/20 split. Public and published at the time. Joe also had the majority of his earnings recorded in his cout case. Public and published.

Hamed did have huge sponsors (Playstation, Adidas, Golden Wonder, ART and so on), plus he was a very active and very well paid World Champion (not sure how much he got for his singing career but he earned every penny of it ;;-) ). It is also true that he has alot of property. His estimate is low.

The story about dropping a bin linner full of cash (50K) in the front room of his perents house was actually supposed to be on the counter in his Dads shop. This didn't happen. He gave his Dad ten grand and reporter made the rest up (not the first time that reporter has done so).

Hatton was a well piad and active champion but never got the cross over sponsors of a Hamed or Lewis. He was always plastered with logo's but they were always smaller, regional firms like builders and phone companies. Nice to get but would never move him up the rich list. Two bumper paydays helped.

The story told by Ian Darke on Sky back in the day was that £500k was dropped off by Naz at his parents' front room in a bin-liner. The story definitely wasnt about £50k.

Personlly i find Darke credible.

Ian darke is, but whilst I'm sure he reported it (like many others at the time) he didn't make it up. It never happened

Hardly surprising when you consider he headlined 2 record breaking PPV's (with a % deal for both) and sold out large arena's for a number of years.

From the massive purses that are generated by trade fights such as Hatton-Witter. If Hatton had netted that fight then he may well have leapt into Lewis' league.
Hatton - Witter would never have generated as much money as some people think, no US network was willing to pay for it and Witter has never been a draw (far from it, in fact).

It just shows how moriband the Cruiserweight division is generally regarded i suppose.....

Hatton always seemed to get more exposure than Calzaghe.... it wasn't till later on i his career that Joe went beyond the 'WBO' level, and got superstar fights. Still i'm surprised he is worth twice as much as Calzaghe.
Calzahe never had a pay-per-view fight in this country,Hatton had several. The Mayweather fight was an absolute financial blockbuster. Also,Hatton himself is a "brand",his after dinner speaking,an evening with...,etc,will have kept the money flying in in-between fights. If anything,i am suprised he's not further ahead of Joe in earnings
robin reid fight was ppv.

Hatton has made an absolute killing.. He made serious dough from both Mayweather and Pac fights.. Even down to tickets alone Im told he made serious ££ on all his fans selling them tickets.. They charged £100 on top of the value on the tickets for a fact for the Mayweather fight cos I know someone who bought one directly from his Dad.. Ricky also made a fortune on the city of manchester bill too!! I think he's closer to 40 mil than 30...

I also believe that if he keeps spending in the promotion business and living it up the way he is he could end up another sad boxing story.. Hopefully not though..

I allways assumed he was a careful type when it came to money. Never seen him in a supercar and he looks like he shops at Next (nowt wrong with that BTW). You see guys like Holyfield and Mayweather and you KNOW for certain they will be broke one day but Hatton seems less flash and a lot smarter.

Dont' agree with Mayweather being broke one day though he doesnt act all that smart and flashes the cash i think he is a pretty smart businessman underneath it all and Ellerbee is soemtimes portrayed as a bit of a buffoon but i think he is pretty savvy and looks after Floyds money well. He was smart enough to leave the promoters and get the big money n his own and he has diversified his appeal with his Wrestling gig and appearances on dancing with the stars. Though he has hangers on i dont think Floyd is the type to lavish these guys with money and he seems pretty good at keeping it all in the family
