Re: 2010 National Golden Gloves - official results thread
Anybody get to see Thomas Huitt-Johnson vs. Raushee Warrenn by any chance? Did Huitt do anything to give Warren a fight? My team region has 3 left, KC, and I'll be down there for quarters and the rest of the week, so couldn't see the match but want to know about it.

Ousted: 165 lbs Travis Peterkin
sorry guys, bujaj, teron, never came to the tournament and suarez didnt make weight. peterkin wasnt ousted legally from what i heard. but its boxing. the difference between peterkin and arias is representives. but isnt larry holmes and rapper lil mama, who sang lip gloss and is a judge on america's best dance crew, peterkin's family? if usab remove the shackles from peterkin, this kid is our rep for the 2012 games. but why medal when money and politics matter, i guess. part 2 of this brinks stickup should be on youtube and no this doesnt look good for arias. it just shows you better hold your wallet when you fight arias and arias not only knows it, but he loves it. knowing the shows happy days and laverne and shirley is supposed to be in milwaukee wisconsin i may never watch the show again. i would rather sing "NEW YORK" with travis.

Re: 2010 National Golden Gloves - official results thread
It always amazes me when boxers skip out on the NGG after winning their franchise tournament. Lots of excuses, some good and some not so good. Bottom line is a lot skip going because they don't believe they have a chance of winning and don't want to lose. My hat is off to those who go and battle just for the experience.
In regard to Thomas Huitt-Johnson vs Warren: I have seen Rau'shee look a lot better so I think some of that has to do with what Thomas was doing. He covered well and made it difficult for Rau'shee to land clean punches. He also pressured Rau'shee at times. I think Rau'shee could have some stiff competition from a few guys, including Colon and Cantu. Maybe Vasquez and Russell also.

Much respect to you also Dennis. Good luck to Jordan in the NGG. Another day, another way in this battlefield that we call boxing. Respectfully yours, Travis' dad.

How does the michigan team look?
Re: 2010 National Golden Gloves - official results thread
I see Pena won again at 178. He took a hell of a whooping in the Chicago finals. Shouldn't be there, that kid from Gary, Ind. got robbed.

Re: 2010 National Golden Gloves - official results thread
I updated (finally) our Master Athlete Listing as the boxers enter the semi-finals today. I didn't have much time to get it done so if you see any errors please let me know. Anyone that I did not see as having fought yet (again, I didn't have much time to review the results) I changed to No Entry in the belief that they did not make the tournament for whatever reason.
This is a colorful way of seeing the bigger picture, I think. Hope you like it.

Re: 2010 National Golden Gloves - official results thread
Yeah, he did. But look like Pena loss today. That was my nephew they stole that fight from.terrencej wrote:I see Pena won again at 178. He took a hell of a whooping in the Chicago finals. Shouldn't be there, that kid from Gary, Ind. got robbed.
2nd year in a row. Last year they stole the championship from him in Indiana GG. That fight was awarded to Ray Lucies. Just found out a couple of weeks ago when Wynten Ellis won the Indiana Opens at 178, that Lucies father was one of the judges of the GG title fight last year. What a joke.
Re: 2010 National Golden Gloves - official results thread
DC? How did Ballard-Wood fight go? Was it close fight, I see it was 4-1.
Thanks
