You can still pick up his book. Abebooks will have it .. even a 1st edition will only set you back £20-30.

Great fighter. But strange that he would never be in anybodies top ten of any of the weights he held the title in .. look who he lost the titles to and even defended against, and ask yourself would they make the top 10??

Boxing International ran a whole series of fantastic articles in the Seventies, one of them a life story on Armstrong. I remember they showed him after his career, after he beat the bottle, as a preacher.

I remember hearing that he had an incredibly low resting heartbeat which aided his non stop buzzsaw style...


Amazing fighter and his 3 weight simultaneous title reigns will never be matched.
