And he did'nt have easy fights under Warren? That's hilarious.Proper sour grapes with everyone who leaves him, which they all seem to do.

It's funny how Paulie is better than anyone he fought under fwank eh?

Forget Barrera he wasn't the same fighter he once was.

I can't be alone in thinking Malignaggi has a good chance. He isn't a heavy hitter, but neither is Limond, plus he will be much more adept at working the openings. He landed a few crackers on Diaz and he is a pretty tough dude, regardless of the ill-advised hairdo's. Look at his fight with Cotto.

And how will Khan react to fighting in New York? I'm not sure that mental strength is his forte.

Sod it, I'm off to betfair...

Good points, but I think Khan will be too fast and either win by points or a late stoppage.

Warren is right but it's only what he did with him as well which seems to suggest that people really do fear for his lack of defence because Oscar don't normally shield any of his fighters.

Khan is incredibly quick and this should seal the deal.

Malignaggi isnt an easy fight IMO but there are tougher fights he could have taken however I expect Khan to win on workrate in a tough battle. Its a good job this isnt PPV because it would have been a horrible failure. The Mitchell/Katsidis fight is much more interesting and looks like being Mitchells hardest fight to date. It really could go either way, but I think Kevin will come out on top. Mitchell has come up the hard way to get to where he is, whereas Khan has got there mainly through FWs careful matchmaking. If Mitchell does go on to win the title, he will be a far more worthy champion than Khan. I think Frank took risks with Mitchell that he avoided with Khan all because Khan was the cash cow. Thats been good though because Kevin has proved how good he is and earned the respect of the fight fans.

yes, this fight is even easier than maccarinelli v bobby gunn & mohammed azzaoui, not to mention calzaghe-manfredo, never mind scott harrison v samuel kebede.

I dont think Paulie has a chance in hell of beating Khan.
khan is to fast for paulie by a long way these days.
Forget willie limond Khan is a different fighter now paulie punches like a girl.
I can see Khan blitzing him with his fast combinations and stopping him before the 6th.

yeah ok frank and you put amir up against world beaters didnt you? i am no kahn fan by any means but a fight against malignaggi as an american debut is not a bad fight imo. you dont want to get the snot kicked out of you in your first fight infront of an american audience do you? but i think everyone here knows that as soon as kahn comes up against a lanky power puncher hes gonna be kissing canvas again.

I would say do that is is just as hard a fighter as Mitchell has took.

But I do agree that Khan should of fought Maidaina instead Paulie. But Paulie is a much less risky fight.

The funniest thing about all this talk of Khan taking an easy fight/Mitchell taking a hard one is this...

Malignaggi would beat both Katsidis and Mitchell, as would Khan.

Surely that should be the end of it?

I'm sorry Waylon, I've got to disagree with you there. Mitchell was every bit as babied as Khan. The Johanneson fight was a cracker, but there's an awful lot of dross on his record. Kotelnik is better than anyone Mitchell has fought.

Amir Khan went his own way earlier this year, shedding his British boxing roots for the sunshine, the winos and the wackos of Los Angeles, the place where the rents are low as Neil Diamond once croaked. Now promoted by Oscar De La Hoya, he of the Colgate smile and the five thousand dollar suits, and trained by Freddie Roach, a shrewd individual with plenty of say-so in the Khan camp, Khan launches his US debut with a 12-rounder against Paulie Malignaggi in New York's Madison Square Garden next Saturday, screened live on ITV.
Khan is still only 23 and, like Ricky Hatton before him, finds the lure of America irresistible – a 23-year-old topping the bill at Madison Square Garden! Khan was once content with topping the bill at the Bolton Arena, a stone's throw from his own front door, but Bolton has come and gone and never again will Khan fight in his own hometown. De La Hoya does not 'do' Bolton.
Right now everything is new and fresh for young Khan, who can speed down the California highways with the top down. The American way spells m-o-n-e-y and those with money, with nice homes and nice cars, are admired. Here, they are envied. Khan has found his own personal Heaven. De La Hoya calls and says Las Vegas next, the MGM Grand. Khan is living the dream
Firstly comes Malignaggi, a feather-fisted fellow from Brooklyn who talks a great fight and knows how to box but is unlikely to dent the infamous Khan chin. Roach the coach chose him and will choose a succession of other respectable but light-hitting opponents for Khan over the next few years. Roach the coach is also matchmaker, manager, mentor, and probably Khan's hero. Roach owns a gym in Hollywood where the Hollywood set stop by, work out, float around.
Khan is still floating himself.
Give Khan an opponent without real strength and power, and Khan looks a million dollars. Give him an opponent who can punch, and he is likely to find himself taking a tumble. The day will dawn when even Roach slips, by which time America will surely jar with a bored Khan, sick of fans cheering for the other man, sick of their way of life. Khan misses custard, marmalade, tea, Match of the Day; he misess Bolton.

Malignaggi isnt an easy fight, he is fast, clever, fit, determined and has good whiskers. I think Khan will win but it will be close and a good boxing match

What a load of crap :witzend: Mitchell has been straining at the leash since day one.
A serious hand injury early in his pro career has been major factor in how it has gone so far, in fact; I: for one am well impressed with mitchell's record in spite of said injury, no doubt given the opportunity he would have aggressively punched his way to early retirement and a crippling lifelong injury against anyone put in front of him; in his quest for a world title.....trust me.... the kid's a warrior; and a proper gent with it. Good luck to him.

Malignaggi is also quite easy to hit, so I don't think this will be close.

Straining at the leash he may have been. I've no doubt he's also a gent. Doesn't change the fact that he's faced a lot of guys who had no chance of beating him.

Look let's not waste time and cut to the chase without a lot of tit-for-tat posts.
You don't rate Mitchell; you have already said you obviously know nothing about his career, and are bias due to ignorance, jealousy or just plain old dislike for the kid; so i will not try to change your mind: I'll just say your chattin' sh*t because of it. Nuff said.

No offence mate; stupidity may be frowned upon: but it 'aint a crime :TU:

Well fornicate me, that's me told. I wasn't aware that I disliked Mitchell, didn't rate him, and was clearly biased due to my ignorance. But apparently I do.

I cannot fault your well reasoned arguments sir. I missed the part where I 'already said obviously know nothing about his career', but I clearly must have, if you say so.

If you would be kind enough to tell me where Mitchell had this ultra-tough career path compared to Amir Khan, I can hopefully make good on this terrible error of mine.

Neither Khan or Mitchell has had terribly tough career paths for one reason or another but the difference to me is Khan is world champion and he hasn't fought anyone tougher than Mitchell has fought to get there. Mitchell is fighting someone who is probably tougher opposition than Mallanaggi and that's not even for a world title and doesn't look like it will guarentee him a world title shot either.

Then if you look at like for like results then no one can argue that Mitchell has done better than Khan because he beat Presscott and Khan didn't.

Ironic, isn't it? :OhYes:

And the point about Mitchell - nice fella and all but as States 'states', Mitchell's career has been just as sheltered, as Khan's. That's not to say the guy aint tough or skilled, its just Warren's way in UK Boxing. Feed and pad records and hope someone comes good out of it, making a himself a few quid on the way.

Not rocket science, really.

EDIT - And also criticise anyone or any other promoter who does exactly what he does. Like most fans, I can't take Warren seriously, at all. Smart guy and business man, thats the best I can say about him.
