Plenty of Scots and Welsh on here as well mate.

Duddy is not a full on hype job, as it seems that most people who know boxing, know that he is limited when it comes to the top level. Maybe he is hyped to the casual fan.

He gives entertaining fights, fair play, but he aint no future hall of famer. I expect Chavez to beat him handily.

how many casual boxing fans in England and Wales or even Scotland have ever heard of Duddy? Very few I would have thought to be honest. Only a handful of his fights have been on SKY and any attention he gets in Boxing News, that I have ever read, is generally negative.

Like I have said a dozen times before - who, where and when has Duddy been hyped - what have they said to hype him? I think he generally gets a raw deal in the boxing media to be honest.

In truth he is no worse that Barker. If Chavez beats him then fair enough - fair play to Chavez, its not like he is without his knockers either.

I've set up a new thread just for this purpose!

As you say over there, the way to settle it is to fight. I would f*cking love to see Barker v Lee after the to and fro that's happened on this forum.

Duddy has been hyped - big deal. He's not very good, is he?

Hardly the first and won't be the last.

Duddy is mediocre, and he is hyped by armchair fans who truly believe he is the real deal.

He's not. He's average at best, and I'm totally neutral!

Who said Duddy is the real deal? I am a big fan of his but I know he isn't world class, I know the likelihood of him winning a world title is very slim but he has an exciting fighting style which endears him to boxing fans. I have never heard anyone say he is the 'real deal' and if you can provide proof of someone saying that, bravo sir!

Not as far as I'm aware of, any Irish boxing fans I know give Duddy a slim chance of winning a title at best, just as Deno says.
I think what has happened is you realised Duddy has a huge following(which he does), thought 'hmmm why does a fighter of that level have so many fans ?' and then presumed it was because they believed he was a future World champion and an elite fighter.
Your assumptions would be wrong, Irish fans will support their men strongly no matter what.......but that does not mean we are hyping anyone or proclaiming anyone to be better than they are.

I mean I'm not sure Duddy is even going to win this fight, it's even money for me but I'm hoping John does and will be rooting for him strongly.
But just because I'm supporting him doesn't mean I think he's going to spark Chavez jnr out in a round.

And from your post Noddy you've presumed I don't know what I'm talking about because I'm neutral and disagree with you?

I'd take Duddy to beat Chavez, just, but that's no big feat IMO. They're both average at best, as I wrote earlier.

I'm aware Irish fans don't get behind Duddy because they think he's going to be a world champion, the same way Andy Lee's don't. They get behind them purely because they're Irish, which is commendable. Support your man through thin and thinner I say....

I'm a Wrexham FC supporter because I'm Welsh and they're my team, not because I think they're going to reach the Premier League and win the FA Cup.

However, would you not agree a large proportion of the thousands who go and watch Duddy believe he is good enough to be a champion? The followers in the flock? Surely?

Well done to all the Duddy fans for getting behind him, but fighters with far more talent receive far, far less publicity and are not knocking on the door for a title shot because they do not have his support, his looks and sell tickets. That's my opinion anyway.

"I'm aware Irish fans don't get behind Duddy because they think he's going to be a world champion, the same way Andy Lee's don't." - I would say that both could hold a "world title" and that Lee's followers probably hold out more hope of him actually doing so because he has age on his side. How dare we spudmunching Micksters have the audacity to consider that one of our fighters might dip their toe into the alphabet soup!

"would you not agree a large proportion of the thousands who go and watch Duddy believe he is good enough to be a champion? The followers in the flock? Surely?" - they believe that on his day he could win a world title yes - and Duddy could. I doubt any consider that he is going to unify the division and claim a place in the HoF but of course they hope he can win a title and because of his popularity he problem will get a shot at one and then who knows. They probably have lower expectations than Barker fans do - yet Barker has faced no higher opposition than Duddy has - yet we don't see the persistent negative derision aimed at Barker.

"Well done to all the Duddy fans for getting behind him, but fighters with far more talent receive far, far less publicity and are not knocking on the door for a title shot because they do not have his support, his looks and sell tickets." - so what! whats your point? thats boxing, some fighters are popular, some aint. Its a business after all and the fighters that bring the $$$$$$ are obviously going to find that doors open quicker than for those that don't.

I found some of your comments a little racist towards the Irish though :)

so i wonder how duddy would do vs belgecham, who i'd favour after his 2 noteworthy losses.

ave duddy or chavez jr ever shown any incination to fight anyone decent?
Duddy wanted to fight Pavlik and was one decent performance against Schmicet away from getting his wish, so how is that not showing "shown any incination (sic) to fight anyone decent"?

Howard Eastman isnt as good as Belgacham, even an old Eastman would win that fight. You do talk some rot.
come on, man. duddy isn't very good and he's basically fought no one with form. and his big, big fight is vs pee wee chavez.

what's the point bringing up typos, on a forum? does that make you feel in a superior position or something.

duddy v chavez jr is a bit of a joke fight, though it could be entertaining. of course they deserve to make their money, especially as their names sell tickets. but in another era they would probably be clubfighters.

you never know, winner might get an absolute humiliating beating from sergio martinez. i think ryan rhodes would have both of them.
duddy v chavez jr is a bit of a joke fight.bet you though gatti v ward was a joke fight aswell

Duddy reminds me of another fighter I really enjoy watching, Michael Katsidis.

They both always look like they are right there to be out-boxed and the effect of their power has diminished as their opposition has improved (a bit like Hatton too). On the other hand their chin, work-rate and raw desire will make any opponent ask serious questions of themselves.

I've not really seen JCC jr but I'll definitely be cheering for Duddy in this one.
