Yeah, I think Hobson and Waterman have good contacts at a number of TV stations.

It would be good if they could tell the Beeb to piss off, they have been messed around so much by them.

With ITV 2 Showing the contendor and ITV 4 being designed at targetting a male / lads audience, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they show it. All depends on the finances though.

I still say a boxing channel on Sky would be the most effective way of getting the small hall promoters shows on tele. However, they must work together as a consortium to fund the shows. Boxing on the web will be restricted to broadband and even then it doesn't "feel" right. I cannot imagine getting the lads over for a beer infront of the computer room and the picture quality even on broadband is poor. Also, I do believe it is hard to record/rewatch the shows from a computer.

Boxing needs to be on terrestrial TV

Graham I agree, but unfortunately I think the Small Hall promoters (such as Derek Williams, Maloney etc) are not going to get a terrestial TV deal if larger promoters such as Hennessey cannot obtain one.

What I am saying is that a boxing channel on Sky would better than Web boxing, not only it would be "better" for the viewer to watch but also provides a wider scope and would become more profitable for the promoter (through other avenues such as advertising and competition hotlines). I believe that it IS accomplishable if they were together in the running of the channel and timetabling events to suit each other. Maybe their working relationship in running the channel could help establish a better relationship in terms of boxing, and then hopefully a few inter promotional matches.

I don't think anyone would prefer web boxing over the telly no matter how advanced it gets. The only reason it's becoming big nowadays is because of the utter failure of Sky/BBC/TV to show big fights.

Got to say though - the recent Pac/Morales fight was one of the best quality video streams I've ever seen over the internet. I can pm you a picture of how it came up on my screen if you want Stu?

Web boxing is the way forward, the quality has not been there though from what I have seen. They should have a word with the people who run Jenna Jameson's website some of the streaming video on there is out of this world. :P

Yes, I think it would. Whilst I can see your point who from those countries would want to watch a fight say for example between Michael Monaghan and Alan Jones. For me, that sounds like a competitive match up between two lower top ten Middleweights - It would be a good little crossroads fight and I would tune in to a boxing channel to watch it - can't see appealing to South American's or Aisian's.

With the TV channel it could be more than just the shows, competition lines, boxing phone ins etc and advertising all of which make money.

Also, why not then have a http://www.theboxingchannel.tv to offer those who cannot access the channel a chance to view the shows on a PPV basis anyway.

In the long run, there will be a convergence of TV and broadband technology, which will allow viewers to view streaming content through a big TV screen, it's some way off yet, but eventually there will just be a single viewing unit through which various bits of hardware are routed.
