boxers gambling can get really messy , mentally .

ive even had a problem with a white collar boxing being a gambling addict , i tried everything to help him , even got him to sign a form in all the local bookies to say they wouldnt serve him if he came in , in the end i had no choice but to cut him loose , when he had a fight for me on a ticket deal , but rather than had over the money from the ticket sales he lied to me saying his daughter was ill and needed the money but would pay it back by fighting for free on next show , when in actual fact hed spent it all in the bookies and then failed to show up for the "free " fight , he never paid nything back so i got rid of him in the end , shame too as he was a promising welterweight that could have gone far in the white collar scene , i was even trying to negotiate him a bout with nicky booth , which i think hed have won .

True, but they could query it if they felt something was "off".

Its a tricky one, betting on yourself to win in round 3. Bookies could argue, with some justification, that the fighter could deliberaly lay off in round 2 (for example) in order to make his bet come true. Or if a fighter has bet on himself to win on points, he could deliberatly avoid KOing his opponent.

It would be a bit like a footballer deliberalty missing a late penatly that would take the game to 3-0, because he had a bet on it being 2-0.

However, it could be argued that it was up to the indivudal athlete to fight his fight however he chooses- unless he deliberalty loses, of course. (Not saying that anyone does that.)
Bookies can refuse a bet from anyone, they don't need to give a reason at all.

If they knew Eamonn and that he was a fighter, they would be within their rights to refuse the bet.

Bookies routinely ban professional gamblers, for the simple fact that they are winning money from them, it happens to my mate all the time, and as a result, he has to have multiple bank accounts in other people's names to lay money on.

The bookies trace the I.P addresses and account activity of everyone who bets online, anyone who thinks this is 'untraceable' is rather naive.

If someone like Eamonn wanted to place a bet regardless of who it was on, one of his cling ons wudnt be to long in doing it for him.

Bookies aren't stupid though, they do notice any large or unusual bets and investigage.
