Awesome. Thanks mate. :TU:

With those high kicks Micheal could take up a career as a can-can dancer when he retires from boxing

It's just part of dynamic warm-up, i.e. a warm-up that includes dynamic stretches and drills to fire the neurology involved in whole-body coordination. I've seen it a lot of similar warm-ups from Eastern European boxers (Polish, Finnish), and I've seen this drill in particular. Eastern Europeans have been leaders in sport's science for decades. I do similar stuff and the boxers I coach do similar stuff. (I'm turning 33 this year and I've found I need 15 - 30 minutes of dynamic warm up to achieve optimal performance.) Mick in this clip isn't actually a great exponent of the warm-up, it needs to be done with more intensity and for longer, I think he's just pottering around for the camera.

Yeah, I got that. That particular drill just stretches the thighs and back as you bend over and the arms/shoulder when you throw. By doing it as you're jogging all the muscles are getting warmed up and the stretches are dynamic and involve coordination and rythm. (Like I said originally you actually build up to doing it faster and with more vigour, and it's only one exercise amongst many that should be done.) Older styles of warming up involve an actual warm up (eg. skipping or jogging) followed by static stretches and are just fine really. But by incorporating dynamic stretches you are creating movement much more analogous to athletic performance and you are engaging core muscles in the warm up as well as "warming up" the neurology involved in coordination.

BTW I'm loving how relaxed Katsidis is looking and his quiet confidence in this interview. This will be a good fight.
