New ANBF Ratings

Post by AntonS »

John Hogg was pushed for time on this occasion, so he took last weekend's results into account.

Note: World titlists are not rated, whether considered legit or not e.g. Les Sherrington, Joel Casey etc

His management had requested yonks ago, he not be included in OZ ratings. ANBF obliged, as he has no intention of contesting OZ title.

4 Directors of ANBF sanctions them on ratings officer's recommendation.
It's Mwetupunga's voluntary defence, so he can choose anyone within middleweight, jnr middle or super middle division. This will cease in September when his mandatory will be due.

He lost to Hadlow in 2008. I guess he wants to amend that glitch

a loss[cut eye etc. ] against a fighter on a downhill run wouldn,t look good on his resume. maybe you can help me out on this one, can an amateur who has been out for 9 years come back as a pro at the age of 38, or is there a limit on the time out,i know there are fellows a lot older but they have continued in the game.all the best :??

Possibly a problem registering in NSW, but not in other States. No need to reside in those States.
I suggest Professional Boxing & Combat Sports Board of Victoria. This will allow you to fight in NSW.
You can download necessary paperwork from its website & get promoter Peter Hallett's ringside doctor Robert Kasonas to do your medical

You would be like me, Patron, and would remember Johnny Famechon holding the Australian, Empire and World Featherweight titles at the same time.
Carrutghers and Rose did the same as bantamweights.

Can't do it now. The Australian titles have fallen a long way in recent years.

yes brute, i can remember dave sands going over and stopping dick turpin, in those days we got the broadcast from london early morning, fight might not have finished before going to work, that happened with robinson and randy turpin , got the result at smoko, i was no good the rest of the day, we had some great fighters fighting for the empire title in those days, picked up a mag. at the gym yesterday and saw irish middle mick leigh died early this year, along with mike holt and ivor germain they gave our boys some good workouts, tom maguire, sand,s trainer-manager was an honest man, when the world title was in his reach some money men got into the act,tom knocked a return match with pompei and then bede kerr took over the reigns, old tom was never the same, sadly dave was killed about seven months later, like a lot of aboriginal fighters ,he,s relations?came out of the woodwork when he had a quid, as you said ,olsen paid him the ultimate accolade, thats when titles meant something, all the best

I remember listening to George Barnes losing his Australian Welterweight title to Gary Cowburn. Commentator was probably tiger Black or Frank Hyde, George was well past his best and the commentator was saying "Stop the fight. He can't win this."

Used to listen to Rocky Gattelari's fights too.

i was at the fight and if you didn,t know barnes you would have thought he he was throwing the fight, but that wasn,t in his vocabulary, he was well past his best.a mate and myself went down to the gym his father-in -law had in south dowling st.[tram sheds]sparredwith him for his fight with attu clottey, decided work was an easier option, but it was good experience.all the best

Cowburn did not last long as champion. Sid Prior stopped him in the 15th round in September of the same year.

Prior did not fight again after Willie Stevenson made allegations of being paid to throw a fight against Prior. I do not know the truth of the matter, but I remember it was a major disappointment locally. A couple of years later Prior punched out a 17 year old friend of mine at a party. Not the action of a hero.
