Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
David Price is fighting Daniil Peret over 6 rounds this Friday. An interesting fight for the observers, as Peret has already had fights against a few of our HW prospects.
As we know, he's beaten Larry O, and been stopped by Fury.
Should we expect Pricey to KO Peret as a minimum?

Dunno.
S'difficult, isn't it, when you consider the guy is basically a fat cruiserweight, but Fury & War Machine (& I know Chisora beat him but I don't know if he managed to drop Peretyatko) couldn't move him.
I think a points decision is what's to be expected, as he's a solid survivor. If Price could get him out of there, it'd be a nice result, but really, I think that in the grand scheme of things it will only equate to localised bragging rights.
It would be nice for Price (see what I did there?) to match the achievements of the mighty Andriy Rudenko though -- last month the Ukrainian (coincidentally also a fat cruiserweight, but a heavy-handed one) bounced Shrek off the canvas like he was a basketball & stopped him in four.

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
This has ref stoppage mid fight, due to Peret not throwing enough leather, written all over it.
Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
is Peret the one that looks like a boiled egg?
Price should have too much strength and skill for him. Price should step on the domestic gas and sort out Fury imo and try to distinguish himself from the pack of "other British Heavies".

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
i wish maloney would start matching price alot tougher
peret is a good start hes beat both larry and belshaw but this should be his last journey man opponent

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
What's most important is that Price wins and gets valuable experience from it. I don't think stopping Peret is very important in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps it would be better to have a full six rounds?

I had forgotten how that fight went. Perez found it very easy to close the distance with Fury.TBONE wrote:This is peret in action ,enjoy.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:is Peret the one that looks like a boiled egg?

Yeah, Price was facing world class fighters a couple of years ago and now he's still on these kind of guys. He should be pushing for English/British level by now.diggler wrote:i wish maloney would start matching price alot tougher

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
Pricey will wipe him out within 3 very one sided rounds.. Peret will get the shock of his life when Pricey hits him!!

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
Although I think Price has the class to go far in the heavyweight division and like him as a boxer, am I the only person who have not been that impressed by him so far?
I want to see him really step it up now and this fight is a good way to do it. It will make a decent message if he manages to stop Peret but I can't see it. I think a confortable points win is on the cards.

a pts win is no disaster. I saw him stop a (very game for a round or 2) German in Sunderland. He looked impressive enough to me.
think it must be a bitof a culture shock going from boxing fine athletes who tip tap their way around trying to hit and not be hit - to fighting guys like Peret who will quite happily abandon their defence while they take 2 crude swings at you per round.
I think this is where Audley Harrison messed up, speaking with no first hand experience, I think the amateur point scoring mentality has to somewhat make way for more direct, violent approach if you like. Ultimately to get well paid in the sport you need to become a mean b*stard and not just a technician. If he can mix the two, he'll do well. I think he's coming along quite nicely, what is he? just 25 or something, plenty of time to make an impact. I'd still like to see him mix it with a "top" British "contender" before to very long as I think there are one or 2 British Heavies hiding behind the contender status for too long.

maybe not title class but against someone like dave ferguson, someone who will come 2 win
Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
guy will get pole axed within 2 minutes.
Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
I think Price should stop him, will be good for his confidence and show a good marking post in relation to the other prospects. Being our heavyweight Olympian he should be a notch above at this novice level of fights in comparison to the others.
Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
Dave Fergusson turned Dallas as he wanted 10 weeks to prepare. Dallas fights Swaby this week.diggler wrote:Chris W 1982 wrote:Where dya suggest he goes next mate?diggler wrote:i wish maloney would start matching price alot tougher

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
10 weeks
What's he expecting to fight for the WBC Heavyweight title??? Surely he must be in decent shape and train all year round?? 4-6 weeks should be enough for any pro to get ready for a 6 or 8 round fight, You should maintain a reasonable level of fitness all year round so that if you get a call you can take things up...

How do you see the fight going Larry, where do you feel you went wrong against Peret and how easy will it be for Pricey to get it right?warmachine wrote:10 weeks is a bit much. 6 weeks should be cool

Re: Interesting fight for Pricey this Fri
i think david price will ease to victory, possibly stopping peret late as david has alot of punch power. I was so drained from moving house for a week up to the peret fight and by all accounts was battering peret for the first two but then i had nothing left and i knew i did the training but as i worked full time and was moving i had no rest. If i fought peret again i would stop him, no doubt in my mind. but its water under the bridge since i beat belshaw who beat peret

Yeah I think you looked out of sorts late on in the fight and I don't think David will make the same mistake. I hope you get a crack at one of Chisora, Sexton or Price within the next year or two, would be some fight.warmachine wrote:i think david price will ease to victory, possibly stopping peret late as david has alot of punch power.
