THE QUESTION:
What fight was Stallone inspired by for the ending of Rocky II?
Rivers-Wolgast?

That is an excellent guess because Sly's brother, Frank, is a big Wolgast fan and has an extensive collection of memorabilia relating to Wolgast.

Are you talking about Eddie Woods and Al Milone in 1959?

The clues helped. There have been quite a few double knockdowns in boxing. Hard to know what Stallone was thinking about. Wolgast-Rivers made a lot of sense because of Frank Stallone's interest in Wolgast. But, on the otherhand, that double knockdown wasn't anything like the double knockdown in Rocky II, so . . .

Thanks for the clues.
