Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
Khan's fans once cheered to a man when it was announced that Willie Limond had retired with a broken jaw. It was one of the most disgusting non-boxing responses I ever had the misfortune to hear. Real boxing fans would have given Limond an ovation.

Appreciate what you're saying mate, but it is very rare for a fighter to attract this type of following right from the start, and that is what we have with Khan.
They caused bother through the ams and onwards.
In Rob's case his loyal fans who were there from the start were good fellas it was only the "jump on the bandwagon" merchants that caused the bother.
I will have a serious bet Khan knows every one of these nobs in person.

Dear oh dear, I feel for Khan I really do. Having these idiots attaching themselves to him purely because they are pakistani or the same religion is going to be very detrimental to his popularity. I remember going to an amateur show and all his fans were wearing 'Amir Khan: property of islam t-shirts' .
I had hoped that Amir would be the man to unite armchair fans, but thanks to the racist idiots around him that won't be the case it doesn't look like.
You can tell its Khans fans too, the fight kicks off by the press conference stand and by the time the camera pans round the 'innits' are at least 50 feet closer to the door and shouting abuse: hundred yard heroes!

I was at Khan-Fagan at the Excel and his fans behaved like scum there also.
Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
I was at the Khan vs Lawton fight and it was, head and absolute shoulders the worst vibe i have ever experienced in my life at a fight.
If i hadn't seen the pillocks first hand i would wonder why the fuss.
I saw an Asian family with their young son literally cowered in a corner as Khan's army hurled bottles at the drunken Neanderthals called Stoke fans before police jumped in.

We got the news before the video. They probably got the video with the news. After watching the video, it didn't look that bad. Like terminator said, the most interesting thing is watching Di Bella's reaction.Autobarn wrote:seems that more fuss is being made on british, rather than american, forums.

Nice little gimme of a learning fight this for Khan. If you want to see him get knocked out, hope for an Alexander fight, think he might beat Bradley the more I think of it, but either fight should be a cracker

Sorry disagree about him being an alright lad - if he were he would conduct himself in a lot better manner than he is at present by keeping to the laws of the land - unfortunately he has fallen foul of them a couple of times - he would also not slag off this country in the press - etc etc etcPhenomenal-Nutrition wrote:@ this thread. Yobs at boxing, well I never, who would have thought it possible. All the distractors on here seem to know less than Joe in the street, Khan is a world class boxer now, no 2 ways about it, if your a Brit boxing fan supporting 'our lads', its him, Haye, Froch and precious little else on the world scene. Yes hes a nob but an alright lad, most sporting personalities are, what you going to do?

With regards your comment concerning what we have on the world boxing stage - yep I agree with you offensively Amir Khan is a superb world class boxer and I will also state I think he has done very well for himself.
Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
Reminds me of some of the asians at my Uni a few years - they used to love a bit of agro but it normally ended up one of them going mental while all of his mates held him back. Just handbags really - same with this incident.
Makes me look forward to the fight a bit more now - a nice bit of edge to it. Come on Amir!!

I've followed boxing for 32years home and abroad, and in all that time I've never come across a worse bunch than Khan Army.
Sad but true.
I like the lad but either he or his PR have to put a stop to his fans hijacking events in a way that has little to do with boxing or Khan's boxing abilities. Anything less will smack of implicit endorsement. I don't have any problem with nationalistic or ethnic support but root out and isolate the assholes with another agenda. There are idiots in all walks of life and it should be the responsibility of him and his team to distance themselves.

Yeah he probably does, though I reckon he probably gave them all a bollocking for acting like a bunch of twats. Last thing he wants, with his PR drive to get the USA on board.twenty six wrote:Appreciate what you're saying mate, but it is very rare for a fighter to attract this type of following right from the start, and that is what we have with Khan.

I just saw the brawl on ITV news, not as bad as I'd expected. Lou Dibella is a loud mouthed drama queen anyways, who likes to storm around like he's a capo to the goodfellas.

Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
Was at the Khan v Gomez fight and found a section of his fans to be a real aggressive bunch and very intimidating. This incident is pathetic and Khan and his team must address it immediately.
I have been the first to stand up for Khan and even had a letter in Boxing News saying he doesn't deserve the stick he gets, but recent incidents ie the texting and rather embarrasing Piers Morgan interview won't do him any favours at all and he would be well advised to come out after the fight and apologise for the behaviour of anyone involved in the incident from his side.
While it is not fault a section of his fans act like a bunch of knobs he can distance himself from their behaviour with a 'any fan who causes trouble is not a fan I want.'
Also, this nose-to-nose face-off at weigh-ins needs to be handled better and neither fighter should be allowed to get in each other's face. It's unecessary at best, juvenile at worst. Put a line for each man to stand behind which is close enough for press to get their pictures, but there is no need for either man to be in each other's face.
For all this, I hope Khan does a job because Malignaggi's an irritating tool of the highest order.lol

Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
i just cannot see Malignaggi winning this one just how many times did Hatton rock and buckle his knees and khan hits harder than Hatton, i see a fast win for Khan
Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
Khan doesn't hit harder than Cotto though (and I don't think he hits harder than Hatton, not sure what that's based on), and even with a broken jaw Paulie managed to go the distance with him. He was never in any serious trouble against Hatton (albeit he was never close to winning), a lot of his reactions looked worse than they were because he was pulling straight back and off balance. I don't recall him ever being in any danger of being stopped until his trainer suddenly stepped in and even then he could have gone the distance.
If Khan is going to stop him, I don't think it will happen before round eight.

Khan to stop him around 10 I reckon, speed and massive punch count. Paulie will put him over if he lands solid though.

It would be very interesting if Khan has any dramas in the fight - I cannot see it against a non puncher though.
Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
Roach didn't look too confident in the video...
...maybe he knew their was going to be a conflict at the weigh in as part of the goldenboy hype.
He has been very confident in all the interviews about this fight. Not that it makes a difference really.

Am I the only one who thinks PM has a chance? I admit Khan should win tonight, he more than has the tools to outbox PM, and I know PM isn't a puncher, but to me Khans problem is not so much his chin it's that he seems to throw the game plan out of the window as soon as anyone tags him or upsets his rhythm. If Khan can stick to his game plan then it should be fine but I think PM could make it tricky and then it's all down to how Khan responds.

How do think Malignaggi can beat him? The only way I could imagine is by knockout, and the chances of that are extremely slim.DaveyH wrote:Am I the only one who thinks PM has a chance? Re: Absolute bedlam mars Khan v Malignaggi weigh in
If Malignaggi rattles Khan (and he rattled Ndou and Diaz so its not an impossibility) then it all depends how Khan reacts. If he re groups and sticks to his game plan, he should be fine. However the few times Khan has been rattled he starts swinging wildly and forgetting his boxing skills, if this happens then maybe Malignaggi could take control? Obviously Khan has come on in leaps and bounds under Freddie Roach and when he's in his rhythm he's probably the best offensive fighter around. But since the big comeback everything has gone Khans way in the ring, he hasn't lost his rhythm once, the gameplan he executed vs Kotelnik was punch perfect, Salita, Fagin and Barrera offered nothing to even slightly trouble Amir.
PM is definitely a step up in class so all I'm saying is the potential is there for PM to ruffle Khans feathers a bit, it probably wont happen I just dont want to jump on the bandwagon of saying this will be a formality for Khan
