Lee wont be fighting this side of the Atlantic ocean much after this fight. He will be turning his attention to cracking america according to the Irish Daily Mail.

Will be interesting to see if emanuel steward will be in his corner.

Hope RTE show the Andy Murray fight, god theres talent wasted .....

Hopefully Barker gives him a crack at his Euro title soon so and we shall find out. Lee expressed a wish to fight him. This is a fight that will earn lots of dosh and be a much needed step up for both. Their next fights will be a good indication as to their self-belief and ambition.

If Gevor fights Barker before then, I'm afraid Lee will not get the chance to take his belt as Barker will already have lost it.

Duddy is fighting Chavez jnr on the 26th of June at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas.
Andy Lee is fighting Mamadou Thiam at UL's(University of Limerick) Sports Arena in Limerick tonight.

As mentioned above the undercard is being streamed from 6pm(20 minutes time) from RTÉ's website.
You'll get to see Mike Perez fight twice in one night, Luis Garcia take on former European title challenger Alexander Sipos (who gave Lee some problems), #3 Lightweight in Europe Andy Murray vs 10-2 Amir Unsworth and a cracking 50/50 Irish Light-Heavyweight title fight between two sluggers in Jamie Power and John Waldron, + more.
So if you've nothing planned in between the start of the Katsidis vs Mitchell card and now you might aswell watch it for 2 hours.

andy lee might have the best pure boxing ability of all the middleweight contender-prospects. he can be a real sharp shooter with that long amateur style, and should be doing at middleweight what wlad klitschko is doing at heavyweight.

but it seems really sad that lee's possibly the only one without a solid, dangerous matchup forthcoming. seems like every other contender or prospect has a damn good fight to look forward to. surely some kind of move will be made now that scary puncher pavlik has decided to move up in weight?

barker vs gevor - isn't this going to purse bids? if barker wins then it puts the belghe struggle behind him as they (gevor and belghe) are almost the same fighter though gevor has much better experience.

mackin v geale - this will surely be a war down under, with the winner to fight for the IBF title.

duddy v chavez jr - middleweight title elim.

even sylvester, the weakest of the world champs, is in a tough fight vs roman karmazin, very soon.

blast from the past. On his day I'd say Karmizan would have beaten Moore, Duddy, Barker, Macklin, the lot of 'em from our shores.

i hope karmazin can salvage something. he had a thrilling win over dionisio miranda, recently. always felt karmazin's prime was wasted by don king.

Lee won after Thiam retired on his stool after the second round citing a back injury. Think he done himself a favour to be honest, he tripped over 3 times in the first round trying to get around Lee's awkwardness. Lee dominated first two rounds but Thiam was only there for the cheque.

Lee was always going to win, a pity it ended early for the people who paid money to watch in UL

I see Andy Murray won in 2 rounds, he was meant to have boxed well, he's on the McCloskey bill in four weeks. Good to see the man keeping active...

Well he beat Ouma for the IBF and lost an MD with Cory Spinks... I guess he wasn't bad 'on his day' :)

It was a doctor stoppage due to a bad enough cut(unlike Perez's 2nd fight), Murray was winning easily though and boxing very well.
I always liked Murray as a good technical boxer but I think he's starting to add more metal into his game now and his inside fighting has improved a lot. He's a more rounded fighter and while he easily outboxed and timed Unsworth on the outside, even on the inside he was getting the better of him.

I see he's down to fight on the mcCloskey undercard now which is good, may aswell keep him active.
I'd favour John Murray to get the better of Andy, but it would be a very good fight between them.

Haven't watched it yet(was watching Katsidis vs Mitchell), but it always was a marking time fight really and from what I heard it turned out to be a frustrating marking time fight with an irritating ending. They had tried to get Gevor for this date but couldn't get him over and got Thiam in on a month's notice.

They want a European title fight with Barker next, but at the moment it seems Proksa is the likely one to be Barker's next voluntary and after that will be Khoren Gevor as mandatory. See Lee may well have to wait till early next year for a shot(or even 12 months). What he'll do in the mean time I'm not sure, but the word is he may be America bound again.

where do they get these ring announcers from what a joke he was.

quote from eastside boxing forum

I have to say, Peter's or RTE made a Boo Boo getting Marty morrissey doing ring announcer. fornicating embarassing to be frank...The two fighters were in the ring nearly 20 minutes waiting for Marty to shut the fornicate up before the action started..
