Mike Perez, twice in the same night (spoiler).

Post by Andy »

Mike Perez needed just 48 seconds to complete the first part of his possible double in Limerick, halting Edgars Kalnars in 48 seconds. He fights again later on the same show.

You can't fight more than 12 rounds in a week, or something to that affect.
But that's a BBBofC rule anyway so it's not under their jurisdiction. No idea what the BUI's rule's are on the matter.

lol, Mel Christle probably just makes them up as he goes along.
The only rule I knew was the requirement of having fought an 8 round bout before letting you fight for the Irish title, and they let Coleman barrett off on that one(possibly because of prizefighter, but still).

Completed the double. Opponent halted after a doctors inspection (cut eye) mid-way through the 3rd.

Maybe im overly critical but im not that impressed by Perez. Sure he has talent and power but hes a small heavyweight who gets bored and negative when he doesnt blast an opponent out in a round or two. I doubt his fitness and Glenn McCrory himself hinted that the lad lacks dedication after training him in Newcastle for a while (Glenn didnt mention names, but he was hinting at Perez).

I think that once he moves up in class he will be quickly exposed by the first large battle hardened heavyweight he faces ie an in shape Rogan. His second fight in Limerick last night was stopped despite his opponent being fine to continue, it was only the second round and Perez was already looking lost for ways to land telling shots, it was stopped to make the cubans record seem impressive.

Perez looks impressive at first but quickly fades.

I heard Perez was average at best and that all the cuban's over there in Ireland are lazy buggers.

Hearing that for the last 2 years.

Acosta is far from a 'lazy bugger'. He will be really good and is the most active out of the three. He will be fighting on the McCloskey-Lauri card.

At this current moment in time, I think Acosta beats Carl who would probably just be to inexperienced and 'green. The cheek of you making me chose between two of my favourite up and coming boxers! Bloody Cubans have been boxing from the moment they are out of the womb
