Winning purse bid was $515,000 USD with Katsidis getting a bigger share as he was the champ. Not sure about T.V. cuts or anything like that, but Mitchell probably made at least made a couple hundred thousand American.supacook2k wrote:how much do you think mitchell earned from that fight?

Mitchell has been talking alot of crap before the fight e.g American fighters taking drugs etc
But this is what happens when you fight bums under FW and then make a big step up in class. IMO fighting Murray would be the next step for Mitchell!

Not many fighters give interviews after a loss let alone a stoppage like that. He's a class act, great lad. I feel for him after that

mitchell vs murray for the ebu title....now that would be epic ![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)
Re: Mitchell. Class act, no excuses.
ppl were acting as though jimmy tibbs had magically transformed mitchell. mitchell takes a hard shot, then his defenses go. he often falls back into the ropes, his shoulder roll has never really held up to a sustained attack. katsidis sustained his attack.ArtOfWar wrote:I think it's all down to schooling though. Even an ordinary American fighter will be technically proficient, where as British fighters seem to struggle in this area because the level of training over here just isn't as good. People have been talking about how easy to hit Mitchell is almost from day one, yet his defense has never improved. Tonight he came in against a big puncher, left himself open and got ko'd.Autobarn wrote:speaking of class, where was mitchell's vaunted class?
a number of posters on here have been banging on about mitchell being a level above euro level. and while i appreciated his win over prescott, i felt it left many questions unanswered because so few punches were thrown.
he's just been savaged in 3 rounds. he's fallen quicker, and easier, than graham earl, a fighter whose legs seemed to have gone after the romanov fight. granted, katsidis has improved from that. but katsidis didn't blow away vincenzo escobedo, a pretty ordinary (if we're being honest) golden boy prospect. but he made very short work of kevin mitchell.

I agree his good lad but he was not ready for this level yet. He can come agAin.Smigga wrote:Not many fighters give interviews after a loss let alone a stoppage like that. He's a class act, great lad. I feel for him after that

I think Mitchell can improve from this but i dont think he will ever be genuine world class unfortunately.
Re: Mitchell. Class act, no excuses.
i don't think mitchell is a great scalp for murray anymore. murray can get some great rounds in vs kudriavtsev, which will help ease him into the next level.HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:mitchell vs murray for the ebu title....now that would be epic

you don't think it's an insult to say, ok murray can have the fight now that mitchell's been stopped early?Coffee Aroma wrote:Autobarn wrote:i don't think mitchell is a great scalp for murray anymore. murray can get some great rounds in vs kudriavtsev, which will help ease him into the next level.HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:mitchell vs murray for the ebu title....now that would be epic

Re: Mitchell. Class act, no excuses.
We knew Katsidis was a big hitter and we also knew as tough as he is, he can be stopped, so Kevin did stand a chance of stopping him. Katsidis had a good gameplan and didnt rush things. Once he hurt Mitchell in the third, he didnt let him off the hook, and finished the job. Katsidis has World class experiance which Mitchell hasnt got, and it showed. I think Mitchell was gutted but he spoke like a gentleman, as did Katsidis, after the fight. Mitchell made no excuses, he knew he was beaten by the better man, and accepted defeat gracefully. Mitchell had taken a hammering and he turned away therefore the referee responded correctly and stopped the fight. Graham Earl was never the same after he fought Katsidis, so lets hope Kevin Mitchell doesnt go the same way. Mitchell/Murray would be a great fight but not straight away. Mitchell needs a confidence booster before he has another big fight. Although this is a set back, all is not lost, and there is another route to a World title.

I thought i made myself understood....that is a tiny pea;like brain you have rolling around in that neanderthal type cranium isn't it: please do not bother bashing out an ill conceived retort on your keypad tonight as i am calling it a night; i am disappointed; a little about Kev's fight; but more about all the delusional Mitchell haters thinking their opinions are valid.Autobarn wrote:you don't think it's an insult to say, ok murray can have the fight now that mitchell's been stopped early?Coffee Aroma wrote:Autobarn wrote:i don't think mitchell is a great scalp for murray anymore. murray can get some great rounds in vs kudriavtsev, which will help ease him into the next level.

Looking like September. Whatever FWP have in mind for me. Maybe Magee maybe something bigger, who knows. Magee is a fight I'd love.leforge wrote:When are you fighting next? Re: Mitchell. Class act, no excuses.
Even despite him losing I was really impressed with Mitchell - great boxer and can mix it too. IMO he was definately holding his own up until that final round. Im not saying he would have won, but getting hurt early in the round was a key factor. If he could have got to the end of the round he may have been able to recover...
One thing is for certain, he will definately come back and could be around for many years to come. Mitchell is an exciting and very skilled fighter, with a great attitude, who IMO will most probably go onto great things.
And well done to Kastidis - powerful, though often looks very quite vulnerable. He can look very clumsy at times, but he is entertaining.

Re: Mitchell. Class act, no excuses.
felt so sorry for mitchell getting beat like that @ upton park.i think it was abit too big of an occasion for him against such top draw competition.
he comes back from this phisically no problem, but emotionally it's going to be tough i'd say.

To lose early, in such a manner can't have helped on an "occassion" like that.
Re: Mitchell. Class act, no excuses.
At least Mitchell went in with a real fighter and not "Tap Tap" Malignaggi.
