thats what will get you respect amir khan

Post by boxerbob »

look in no way am i a amir khan fan , look at my previous posts and you will see that , but tonight amirs performance was excellent.

add to that what impressed me was that he really did sound like hes wanting to face the best now , that was my major criticism with amir

his interview with HBO was not just asking for a fight with maidana , he was demanding it

tonight khans jab was excellent , his combinations and movement excellent , basically it was a mature well paced performance , at the time of stoppage i had it 9-1 in rounds to amir.

i hope you do fight maidana next as he will pose you much more problems that malignaggi , mainly the power , tonight i think amir even knew his brittle chin had nothing to worry about from the light punching new yorker , vs maidana it might only take 1 shot.

right now khan vs maidana i still feel the same way , until khan can prove he can take a shot vs an elite fighter at 140 then i think he has a good chance of getting beat , ve maidana he will get hit and unless he moves alot more than tonight then i think he loses by kayo , but if he fights the fight vs kotelink then he will win on points.

amir , no uk fight as said on itv - fight maidana , if you duck him now afterv what you said on american tv then you lose the momentum you gained tonight

excellent mature and professional performance tonight

ps: im must be going mad , last night i actually agreed with sg1985 and now i have gave khan credit

Great performance by Khan, an absolute clinic to be honest and it sounds as though he and Freddie are willing to take on the best, lets hope so! :TU:

Excellent performance from Amir, he's gonna be a handful for anyone. He busted Paulie up with his exorcet jab from start to finish

Absolutley loved his interview after the fight, that's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear from him. I was concerned he was going to go the Calzaghe route, but he's quashed any fears I had. BRING ON MAIDANA!!!! then Bradley/Alexander. I'll back Amir to beat all three, some great fights ahead for Amir

I think Bradley beats Khan and also Alexander.

Maidana is rough but not skilled. Good fight id those do not come off? Juan Urango!

i've not yet watched any of the boxing from lastnight (if somebody could send me a link of the Mitchel fight - i'd be very grateful) so i can't comment on if it really gives Khan respect or not..

All i can add - is that Mallignaggi was made to order. Roach predicted a KO within 3rnds ... And Khan is forever calling out guys he has no intention of fighting ...

The things i shall be looking for this evening when i watch the fight are ; whether Khan hitting harder, is he still rushing in with his fragile chin exposed ..

i wouldnt say he was hitting harder but his defence was ok , didnt keave his chin hanging out , and was rarely caught flush , and on the odd ocasion that he was , it didnt bother him.

Good performance from Khan, really pleased for him, but didn't anyone else get on to his chin swinging up in the air when he came over with the right?

Would still fancy anyone with a strong left counter to ko Amir.

Yep he was there to be hit alright, I would have expected a good counter puncher like Malignaggi to be able to get to him but Paulie looked poor tonight, couldn't escape from Khans speed and jab and was very one dimensional. Good introduction to the States for Khan and good to see him calling out the names in the interview.Talk is cheap however.

khan will take maidana out in 6, freddie will implement the perfect gameplan, and khan will make maidana look stupid he is WAY overrated and can only punch, he has no world class boxing skills, i believe khan beats alexander if he boxes safely, devon's skills didnt look great against urango in his last fight he was down on points on 1 scorecard before he ko'd urango. however khan vs bradley is 50/50 for me

Khan will get my respect when his next opponent is named depending on who it is. Will admit he does look technically better now and doesnt rush into things anymore.

I liked how Khan said 'I'll fight Maidana then the winner of Bradley/Alexander' but we do hear a lot of that.

Bradley and Alexander would beat him now
Khan's still a work in progess but there is no doubt he is improving under Roach...I doubt he wou have gotten to this level under Oliver Harrison

A very, very big Khan fan I take it

Roach said Khan would take Malignaggi in 3rnds .. so how does he come up with a gameplan to take a dangerous puncher out in 6??
Khan does not have the chin to even risk taking Maidana out ... he tries to out box the basic and crude Maidana to a decision. Something I think he can do.

As for the likes of Bradley and Alexander ... not a chance!

Katsidis showed us lastnight what Prescot represented at the world stage. And in my eyes - Alexander is a world class version of Prescot. Alexander gets to Khan sooner rather than later. Where as Bradley is the type of guy who will work his own gameplan out 1st hand .. and ruin Khan.

Lets see Khan in with a decent puncher who still operates in world class. Thats the acid test :TU:

Saying one thing, and doing another are two completely different things.

But Khan/Maidana and Bradley/Alexander, with the winners fighting each other, would be sexual.

:box:

But I still can't see it happening.
