Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
According to the RBR on the British and Irish forum, Michael Katsidis stopped Kevin Mitchell in the third round.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
It was an amazing win. Katsidis rocked him in the third and then turned into a monster, just battering him around the ring. Finally he trapped him on the ropes and Mitchell was defenseless and getting his head snapped back and the ref had no choice but to stop it.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Well done Michael. Very well boxed. He knew exactly what he was doing.
Enjoy the celebrations, guys!

Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
I get the feeling the English underrated Katsidis. True that he lost a couple of fights and Mitchell was undefeated, but the guys Michael lost to were champions.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Yes. On my part, I think I overrated Mitchell and Prescott as well as underrated Katsidis.Brute wrote:I get the feeling the English underrated Katsidis. True that he lost a couple of fights and Mitchell was undefeated, but the guys Michael lost to were champions.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
They underrated Katsidis and overrated Mitchell. Look at their resumes and who they have fought. That 31-0 was built against fighters who were well below the level of Katsidis opponents. Losing competitive fights to Juan Diaz and Casamayor says a lot more about a fighter than beating Ignacio Mendoza. Even Escobedo and Chavez were better than anyone Mitchell has fought.Brute wrote:I get the feeling the English underrated Katsidis. here's a gif of the finish:

Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Dave Parris did a good job. I know Ben and I were not sure about him, but I'm glad he was fair this time. Not that he had much to do anyway.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Yeah keep in mind that Mitchell's legs were gone at that point and Katsidis' left hook just completed the job.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Great win for Kat! now I just need Paulie to win and I am in the money.
I must say I was worried after mitchell gave him a toweling in the 2nd round

Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
I never post here on the Aussie forum, but just wanted to stick my head in here to congratulate Katsidis. The guy showed some quality in the ring, but I thought his post fight interview for Sky Sports was real class. Katsidis showed himself to be a credit to the sport both in and out the ring, good luck to him. Hope he gets a shot against Marquez next, providing Marquez gets passed Diaz.

It was only the ropes that stopped Kevin from hitting the canvas.Broncano wrote:here's a gif of the finish:

Well said,Broncano wrote:That gentlemen is what you call an ass-whooping
I liked the way Katsidis was playing games with Mitchell. Moving Backwards in the 1st and 2nd round, then bringing Mitchell onto Punches. Mitchell had no idea what to do.
It was really like a Boy Vs Man in this fight.

As I said on another thread, I wanted Katsidis to win this -- he's such a top bloke & good to watch, too.\
How can you not love a dude who thanks the opposing 20,000 crowd (who weren't really fight fans, just turned out for the local boy) "for the good of boxing, 'cos it's the sport I love"?
Diamond geezer.

Watched it and loved it.
Call me patriotic but why wasnt the Aussie National Anthem played ??
Rocky looked too strong from the weigh in. I know it is good to support your own,but honetsly from the opening bell this was only going to end one way and it appeared the poms had over estimated their by.
Well done Rocky. Can anybody tell me where you get his merchandise. I have tried for years and had no luck....
Hopefully he can get the winner of Diaz v Marquez on home soil, but I doubt it!!!!!!!!

That should sort you out.

True, for most. I did not share those sentiments at all.Brute wrote:I get the feeling the English underrated Katsidis. True that he lost a couple of fights and Mitchell was undefeated, but the guys Michael lost to were champions.
Mitchell had been a protected fighter and the 'improvements' he had made needed to be taken in context againt the level of opponents he was fighting ie not anywhere near world class.
Whereas Katsides is World Class and mixed in much much higher circles, so for me, was a no brainer. Well done Michael

Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
Being English and a Londoner as well I hoped Mitchell would have enough, but Katsidis is not only very tough but in a class above Mitchell which showed. A very well deserved win and I wish Michael well for the future. We certainly didnt underestimate Katsidis. He was awesome against Graham Earl who was at his peak when they fought. Sadly Earl has never been the same since and as far as I know has now retired. What a weekend you guys have had in sport with Mark Webber winning Monaco as well. Congratulations Waylon.
Re: Katsidis/Mitchell spoiler
I was wondering that too. I'm Irish but I was looking forward to a rendition of Advance Australia Fair. Brillant display from Katsidis both in and out of the ring. Hopefully he gets the winner of Marquez/Diaz.amwsnw wrote:Watched it and loved it.

Definitely. Anyone who knew what was what was saying the same the last several weeks in the lead up. Two men in two different leagues.Brute wrote:I get the feeling the English underrated Katsidis. Unfortunately missed the fight yesterday but just watched the last round on youtube. Hats of to Kevin Mitchell, that guy can box and has got heart. If only he wasn't moddle-coddled he would of had tougher match-ups to get him used to the pace and ferocity of a world-class bout. Padded records do no one no favours!
I can see Katsidis is making more of a concsious effort to put upper body movement into his game, which I also noticed in that interview of him the other day. That's a good thing. I still don't like Michael's stance but it's probably too late to change that. What I see as a limitation in Katsidis is someone who has essentially two modes, he is either defending outright or attacking outright - I would love to see him develop the grace of movement to blend attack and defense, eg. slip and counter more effectively, etc. Still, at the rate he is improving he will give Diaz or Marquez a real run for their money.

How many episodes of "The Office" did you play David in?King Geedorah wrote:Nonsense, I was there.
