got to like katsidis. a really rugged customer who has made a good living losing tough fights to the top fighters (casamayor, a prime juan diaz), beating up some slightly past it guys (jesus chavez) and battering some decent prospects (escobedo, mitchell).
he's certainly earned another shot at a major title, winning i believe the WBO interim title last night.
i would have loved to see him fight robert guerrero, who may have moved up to lightweight recently. that could have been a war.
anyway, i'm not looking forward to marquez v juan diaz rematch so much, as diaz doesn't look so great going by his performances v malignaggi. and malignaggi was abysmal last night...marquez v katsidis could be an exciting lightweight title fight. should be easy to make, an in house golden boy job.

Would be an interesting match up , im sure more casual fans would tune in now too after seeing what he did to mitchell , that win will have boosted his profile , at least in britain .
Re: Katsidis v Marquez
also how could i forget to mention his wars with earl and amonsot.
i think he could give an ageing marquez and exciting fight.

exciting...yes but he will get knocked out walking onto marquez beautiful counter-punchesAutobarn wrote:also how could i forget to mention his wars with earl and amonsot.

Re: Katsidis v Marquez
If it's the same Marquez that fought Juan Diaz and knocked him out, Marquez wins. I'm not sure how good Marquez is today. He's might have to lose some muscle to get back down to lightweight, and he's getting on a bit for a small fighter.

Marquez wins this unless Marquez has become way over the hill
Re: Katsidis v Marquez
Katsidis was actually defending that WBO interim title last night, which he won against Escobedo.Autobarn wrote: he's certainly earned another shot at a major title, winning i believe the WBO interim title last night.

A fight with Guerrero would be a great scrap, I think Katsidis would have the measure of him.

I think JMM box his head off. Katsidis can be outboxed and JMM is a quality boxer.
