New belts?
New belts?
So commish, what have you decided on?
There is quite a gulf of class between the top 2 or 3 boxers, and the rest of the crowd, and so more straps to aim for is much sought after and much appreciated.

Re: New belts?
I was expect the 4 major titles to remain... WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF
And continue with the WBU title... (15 or below)
Maybe the IBO title could be added for boxers (20 or below)
Don't really fancy regional titles.![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Not really. Pep, Sanchez, Saddler, Armstrong, Driscoll and Chocolate are all on a similar level.jBacca wrote:So commish, what have you decided on?

Pep is a cut above. Saddler and Driscollm maybe Armstrong, aren't too far behind.hitman09 wrote: Not really. Pep, Sanchez, Saddler, Armstrong, Driscoll and Chocolate are all on a similar level.
Re: New belts?
But surely, in the interests of competitiveness, they (whoever designed the sim) will not put a huge gap between top fighters?
Re: New belts?
Regional titles (Euro & Americas) should be included IMO.
Having the big four + the WBU is all well and good, but there are fighters that will be too good for the WBU, but fall just short of World title level. Having regional titles will give people with these fighters something to aim for, build there own rivalries and still get some fun out of the Sim.

Re: New belts?
This is more along the lines of what I was thinking, and what I mentioned in a previous thread about regional belts. They won't clutter anything up because, as with the WBU, they won't have any rankings attached to them.kevo wrote:Regional titles (Euro & Americas) should be included IMO.

Some regional options I was thinking of
EBU- European Boxing Union (self explanatory)
NABA - North America Boxing Association (US, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean)
ICBA - Inter-Continental Boxing Association (Africa, Asia, Middle East, Pacific Rim)
SABA - South American Boxing Association (South America)
Fighters based out of only those particular regions would only be eligible for the title associated with it. For example Hamed would be eligible for the EBU, but not the NABA.

So it's based on the fighters' nationality, not promoters'?tzyuforever wrote:This is more along the lines of what I was thinking, and what I mentioned in a previous thread about regional belts. Re: New belts?
If we impliment regional belts, I'd say that's the most realistic way of doing it.hitman09 wrote:So it's based on the fighters' nationality, not promoters'?tzyuforever wrote:This is more along the lines of what I was thinking, and what I mentioned in a previous thread about regional belts. Re: New belts?
I'll also add that these belts wouldn't have to be dropped if, let's say for example, the EBU champ got a world title shot.
And the regional belts would only be on the line when facing another fighter from the same region, clearly.

WBC title
WBA title
WBO title
IBF title
WBU title
EBU- European Boxing Union
NABA- North America Boxing Association (US, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean)
ICBA-Inter-Continental Boxing Association (Africa, Asia, Middle East, Pacific Rim)
SABA-South American Boxing Association (South America)[/quote]
9 TITLES:
Boy am I gonna have a job keeping records of the titles...
Re: New belts?
Just a few questions Commish:
1. Is the IBO title not gonna be used this season? (we would be as well rounding up the number of titles to 10).
2. Can there be unification fights between regions? i assume not.
3. If a regional champion wins a world title, does he still hold his regional title?
And if so, if he loses his next defence, will he lose both titles if the fighter is from the same region as him?
And if the fighter is not in the same region will he still hold his regional title?
4. Can a world and regional champion, just decide to put 1 title on the line in any given week?
5. Will there be regional rankings as well as world rankings?
Cheers for your time.![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

Yes, but the old titles would cease to exist and the new title would need to be geographically located to whatever the center point between those old titles were.
E.G. If there was a British and Italian faceoff, the winner of the fight would become the new French champion.
Re: New belts?
The Commish still needs to answer the above questions to bring about clarity.
Re: New belts?
I think they are fairly obvious though to be fair Creasey bear. How many times have we seen boxers vacate their EBU belt for a World Title shot? They have too.Crease wrote:The Commish still needs to answer the above questions to bring about clarity.
Re: New belts?
1: Is there any need for the IBO now that we have regional titles giving fighters more glory to fight for? I would say No.Crease wrote:Just a few questions Commish:

2: You assumed right. If an Aussie is ineligible to fight for the Euro title then how does he unify with a Euro champ once he becomes champ of his own region? Crease i'm afraid you may always be the number 1 Noob.
3: I think any fighter who wins a world title should have to vacate his regional title, giving fighters below a shot.
4: If the above happens this should not occur.
5: An extra set of rankings could make the commissioner job more time consuming so that's up to the man in the hot seat.
Re: New belts?
That's fair enough... If truth be told, I am a little sceptical about adding regional titles...
The sole reason:
If we are choosing to go down this road (as the majority we have) then we are putting boundaries up as to what titles are available for certain fighters...
Personally I don't like this, as for instance, there is going to be tougher competition for some regions but a lesser quality of opposition for others...
And by this, although the regional champions will have titles of equal measure, one will have fought at a higher level than the other, and to me, this doesn't seem fair...
I would have settled for adding the IBO and (maybe) the WBF titles just to add spice and give outsie boxers a chance for a little glory...
That way, like with the regional titles, the no-hopers who have lost a dozen or more fights will ahve something which is not impossible to strive for.
And this way, every fighter is available to fight for every title.
