Khan vs Ortiz
Both looked good last night in tricky fights and fought in the AMs (with Khan stopping him), who would you favour in a fight between the two in the pros?
Re: Khan vs Ortiz
If Khan can stick to his gameplan and settle into his rhythm then I think he can beat pretty much anyone at Light Welter, his speed and good offense will be enough to dishearten Ortiz.
Would be a good fight though.

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Would be a great fight, Ortiz really made Nate look old last night and Khans speed causes his opponents alot of trouble. I think its a 50/50 fight.

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Ortiz wud knock out Khan
Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Could go either way. Ortiz has the power to hurt Khan, obviously, but Khan has the skill to box rings around him. I think it would be a very entertaining fight, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

He'll never beat Bradley and Im pretty sure he'll lose to Alexander but couldn't be certain as I just ain't seen enough of him yet.. I'd tip either of them two to stop Amir though..
Amir is #3 in a good division..
Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Maybe just me but I think Ortiz has at least equal speed and greater power, better punch variety and placement and better movement, would have to side with Ortiz to win by mid KO.

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
so your saying khan couldn't outbox alexander? alexander was down on 1 card against juan urango before knocking him out with a peach of an uppercut, urango is a pretty average boxer at world level and did well against alexander, as for bradley he is very good but hasn't really beat a top level fighter yet and isn't as good as many claim. khan vs bradley is a good match for khan i feel, amir is alot faster and taller also bradley doesn't have alot of powerBomber 1 wrote:DaveyH wrote:If Khan can stick to his gameplan and settle into his rhythm then I think he can beat pretty much anyone at Light Welter, his speed and good offense will be enough to dishearten Ortiz.

equal speed?? not a chance...more power? yesmikewl wrote:Maybe just me but I think Ortiz has at least equal speed and greater power, better punch variety and placement and better movement, would have to side with Ortiz to win by mid KO.
Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Ortiz has a quality left hook and I feel like he'd spark Khan if he landed it.
Khan looked good against PM, but he got hit and was there to be hit. Ortiz has a mean dig.

khan would fight safer against ortiz, he wouldn't go charging forward like he did at times against pauliejBacca wrote:Ortiz has a quality left hook and I feel like he'd spark Khan if he landed it.

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Bomber - I suspect if Khan was still with FW you would probably say he would beat Alexander and Bradley
For what its worth I think Bradley apart Khan beats everyone at 140.
Imagine if he had a chin - he would be nigh on unbeatable at 140.
He is only 23 and has only had 25 fights, its frightening to think how could he could be

Maybe so, but Ortiz is a step-up from the Magic Man imo.HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:khan would fight safer against ortiz, he wouldn't go charging forward like he did at times against pauliejBacca wrote:Ortiz has a quality left hook and I feel like he'd spark Khan if he landed it.

I thought Ortiz looked a bit one paced tbh.
Bigger test than Paulie but im sure khans speed would give him real trouble.
Nothing ortiz did looked anything special.

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
I thought Ortiz was class last night. He showed some exceptional eye catching ability against a fighter past his best. The Maidana fight perhaps taught him a lesson. He doesn't need to get involved when he doesn't have to. Very quick hands and feet and sharp. Very nice performance.
Khan showed a maturity and a composure when he found the range with that ramrod of a jab which broke Malignaggi down - looked pretty tense for the few rounds though. Good contained performance. He is now big and strong at the weight and under Roache's influence has stopped scurrying around with two fisted attacks that that have left him exposed in the past. Very much liked the way he held his feet - a bugbear for me when he first turned over.
I would very much like to see them face off.

Agreed - but he doesn't and this will let him down for the big fightsWrists wrote:Bomber - I suspect if Khan was still with FW you would probably say he would beat Alexander and Bradley

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
The only way you can beat Khan, in my opinion, is to knock him out, as his talent and skill will allow him to outbox virtually any man at 140. This means that a fighter has to have some power to beat him and Paulie has none of that. Therefore Ortiz would indeed be a very big step up from anyone Khan has faced, because unlike Paulie, Kotelnik, or Salita, he can crack an egg with his hardest punches.
The 140 pound division is really exciting at the moment. Khan, Ortiz, Bradley, Alexander, Madiana, a bunch of young guys who can really fight and in my opinion all of them have what it takes to beat the other on their best night. I can't really ask for more.
I am curious to see how Khan fares against someone who can punch a bit, so I would like to see him in with Maidana or Ortiz in his next bout as these two guys can certainly bang. After that I would ideally like to see Khan square off with Bradley and Alexander, who alongside Khan form the top three at 140. Bradley and Alexander are not the huge hitters like the aforementioned Ortiz and Maidana, but they have shown they can hurt world class opponents and they are in possession of some serious speed and skill.
Good times at 140!! Let's hope Khan's people are willing to put him in with the best. I know Khan would fight anyone, but his management might be another story. Alexander, Bradley, Ortiz, and Maidana have already proven they will fight the best, let's hope Khan joins them.

Victor Ortiz is one of my favourite fighters. I think he's really, really good. I'd put my money on Ortiz to beat Khan. Khan's team will steer him away from Ortiz.

Alexander seemed to be beating Urango pretty wide before Urango going all out and getting clipped. Alexander has some skills and very fast hands, sounds like home cooking if Urango was upHomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:so your saying khan couldn't outbox alexander? alexander was down on 1 card against juan urango before knocking him out with a peach of an uppercut, urango is a pretty average boxer at world level and did well against alexander, as for bradley he is very good but hasn't really beat a top level fighter yet and isn't as good as many claim. khan vs bradley is a good match for khan i feel, amir is alot faster and taller also bradley doesn't have alot of powerBomber 1 wrote:DaveyH wrote:If Khan can stick to his gameplan and settle into his rhythm then I think he can beat pretty much anyone at Light Welter, his speed and good offense will be enough to dishearten Ortiz.

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
Alexanders actually the same age as Khan and already has beaten better fighters already and keeps calling out Bradley who's been ignoring him saying 'if HBO put up a load of money maybe'. Alexander certainly did a better job against Witter, but maybe Witter was more faded by then. Khans boxing skills aren't as good as you may think either he makes mistakes still going back and forwards in straight lines for 1 thingWrists wrote:Bomber - I suspect if Khan was still with FW you would probably say he would beat Alexander and Bradley

Re: Khan vs Ortiz
According to Buncey, Ortiz was stopped by Khan in the amateurs.

I think Khan will stop him in the pro game as well.
I agree with what wrists has said above. Khan is still only 23, is definitely improving with every fight, and already is a genuine world class operator. He's done really well to come back from that KO defeat.
