D-Day for Joe Mesi?

Post by KOJOE90 »

It has been reported that a hearing to determine whether suspended Heavyweight contender Joe Mesi is healthy enough to continue his boxing career has been tentatively set for April 18th 2005.

Nevada's Chief deputy attorney general, Keith Kizer, said on Thursday the date was set after the Nevada State Athletic Commission received all of the requested medical records concerning Joe Mesi's head injury within the previous week. All they are waiting for now is confermation that Joe Mesi and his camp are available on that date. The hearing will be held in Las Vegas.

"All the medical records are in to our knowledge and we're ready to go,'' Kizer said. "Hopefully, we'll know by Monday"

Middleweight Mesi!?

Post by HeavyHitters »

What if they allow him to fight again, but only under the terms that he has to lose 50 lbs and fight as a middleweight?

Suppose they let him continue. It could happen.
It is not unlikely that Nevada will drop the suspension
but not give him a Nevada License. Exile him to Tysonland,
so to speak.

If so, will other fighters be more or less likely to rabbit
punch him because it is perceived as a weakness?
This is a ruthless sport.

Would another boxer actually want to take a fight with Mesi knowing there would be a probable higher risk of seriously damaging him.
