WBA middleweight mandatory challenger Gennady Golovkin declared recently in an interview with a Kazakh newspaper that the former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine hadn’t signed the contract to face him. Golovkin then stated that his group was in negotiation with four other boxers from the WBA top ten, including the French hope “El Phenomeno” Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam. According to the N’Jikam camp they were never approached and they never received any offer from Golovkin’s group to step in the ring with him.
Mouss Ouicher, Hassan’s advisor wanted to clarify the situation: “I’m surprised to hear that Golovkin mentioned us when in fact, our promoter (the Acaries) say that they received no call. I would really like that the WBA respect their words and the rankings they create. And that Golovkin’s camp really calls our promoter. We knew from the beginning that Mundine would not face Golovkin. And we understand that the Kazakh boxer will do everything he can to avoid fighting Hassan by choosing another boxer from the top ten who is less dangerous.
“In the most recent WBA rankings, Mundine was ranked #1, Golovkin #2 and Hassan #3. Mundine is now out of the picture, so it seems obvious to us that Golovkin and our guy should face each other. So today, what I wish is that our promoter and Golovkin’s promoter sit together and make this fight happen. If Golovkin fights another boxer, the title of world champion of the WBA will have less credibility.”
Ouicher also commented on the latest WBO rankings. “The May rankings of the WBO just came out. Strangely, N’Dam who was ranked at the third position in April went down five places to number 8, three places behind a former victim Gennady Martirosyan! I’m really surprised to see this situation and I don’t understand how Hassan went down in their rankings like that. I would really like to hear the WBO about this, if they could explain us what happened.
“Hassan and his trainer would like all the best middleweights on this planet to know that they are ready to fight any of them, they have no preference. Whatever their alpha-organization is and whenever they want. Only the conditions could affect their choice. We want the negotiations between the two camps to be real and honest. In those conditions, Hassan isn’t going to avoid anybody” concluded Ouicher.

looks like golovkin is shopping around already
found this in the CS board, shame for mundine, so much for the talk of fighting a top contender.... he should just retire now. IMO

Oh well, I'm not really surprised. I didn't think Mundane would fight anyone decent.
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
Mundine is a gutless clown
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
No real surprise here. But please, please take this as the last straw and stop buying his PPV's or attending his fights!
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
No truth in the rumour that our man Mundine was seen at a Bunnings' checkout purchasing a spine!
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
thats a joke it is a fight he should of taken unless he signs to fight with sturm or martinez

Mundine ducking a top contender? Tell me it isn't so.
It was going to be the first Mundine fight I watched live in.....well, since the Green fight. Which was the first since Kessler. So four years yesterday.
Actually, not only first I'd watched live, but the first I'd watched in full, whether live or delayed. It's been highlights only since then.
Maybe I really should send my resume to Boxa. I haven't boxed for about 6mths now and haven't won a fight in a couple of years, never fought as a pro. I think I might still be over qualified.

Mundine your a waste of talent. Most boxers would give there soul for the talent you have but you dont do anything with it now thats a descrase.

He was having trouble making middleweight. It was foolish of him to drop a division after winning a world title, regardless of Roy Jones Senior's opinion.
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
I don't think there is anymore to add to this thread. Apart from echoing Marlin's comments.
Also to predict that once he bores everyone by UD'ing the "best south America can offer" in his next fight he will say at the end that Golovkin was running from him. We will know the truth, and the fact that Golovkin has gone down the ranking list and picked the no 3 contender shows Mundine is a gutless coward.
When it was'nt possible for a man to go down everybodies opinion Mundine finds new lows, and he is yet to suprise and shock us with his next opponent.

Best from South America would be Sergio Gabriel Martinez, WBC and WBO middleweight champion. I would be happy to see Anthony fight him.See if Mundine could do any better than Pavlik did.
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
Look I am a fan of Anthony and his ability. Anyone who has ever held a world title is a Champ as far as I am concerned. BUT Anthony is starting to loose fans over his non action. If he is not wanting to go for these big fish he should be fighting every 2nd month. I don't mind if he is dodging certain fighters they all do that but he need to put more info out there about what he is trying to do.
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
Mundine topics & comments are a waste of space in any forum
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
Can't you just lock em, or just delete them please?
Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
Gotta feel for Golovkin,World Class Fighter and amazing power in both hands in my opinion should have fought for a World tiltle way before this,He has been chasing Mundine for some time now and all of a sudden the Fights on for a World title against a bloke He wants badly and THE Man goes into hiding,I reckon Golovkin is a Monty for a World Title belt just got to find someone who wants to fight Him.
One other question for Mundine refusing to Fight Golovkin for the World WBA Tiltle does he lose his number 1 ranking in the WBA or does it stay as it is.?
Teofilo

Re: looks like golovkin is shopping around already
this is surley it for mundine, in the past 1-2 years he has very obviously dodged 2 meaningful fights, (kessler and golovkin)
cant wait to hear the excusses. i think he knows what a loss at this stage would do to his drawing abbilities
