gavin , degale and saunders
gavin , degale and saunders
having see most of all thier fights , this is how i rate then as they begin thier 2nd year as pros.....
1. gavin
2. degale
3. saunders
frankie gavin looks the real deal , he has adapted to the pro game very easily and his style is very professional like , as to any amatuer habits. frankie has been matched the toughest out of teh 3 above and has looked very good in his southpaw stance , his power is improving , his jab is excellent and his movement is very good , only his cuts so far have been the worry.
james degale is beginning to look good although i still think hes too cocky , tonight was his best opponent and degale was caught too easy to the body and to the head , degale has the biggest 1 punch power of the 3 but his hands down style will be found out as hes not as fast as he thinks. he needs to be more focussed as he thinks every fight will be easy , tonight he could just walk through punches as his opponent had no power , you can see the potential thoughn aslong as he cuts out the crap.
billy joe saunders is starting to worry me , he lacks power and i think has to move down to 154lbs , it would make him much sharper , he has an excelelnt workrate but needs to pace himself better , he switches so well from body to head so if he has added pwer then it makes him more dangerous , when his opponent level increases then i hope his temprement holds as some people have doubts about this , still like the of the boxers mentioned , they are very young and shouldnt be pushed to hard to quickly.
the above three fighters are in the early stages of thier career , hopefully by the end of year 2 they are close to a british title fight and have fought some decent international opponents , we still dont know how thier chins are as they have not been tested, so far so good.

saunders needs to lose the puppy fat!! i swear he is a natural light-middleweight but is fighting at super-middle..he has no power at the weight what so ever. gavin and degale are both going to be world champions.

1. Gavin
2. Degale
3. Saunders
4. Jeffries
5. Price
Gavin has impressed me the most so far with Degale not to far behind. Degale looked poor in his debut, but his natural athleticism has been obvious in his last few fights, at least to me. In my opinion Gavin is the most technically gifted prospect in the world and I think these two guys have a good shot at capturing world titles.
The rest have not really blown me away. I have been relatively unimpressed by Saunders, Jeffries, and Price and they have not really shown me much to get excited about. I haven't seen Joe Murray fight as a pro, but going by his record I would say he has probably done more to warrant a ranking ahead of these fighters.

Re: gavin , degale and saunders
All good points.
I think also we have to add that Saunders has had a bit of hand trouble and this can't have helped.
I can't split DeGale and Gavin, I think they will both do very well with two different styles. Gavin may please more paying public at this stage with his more aggressive style but to be fair to DeGale he does alot right. He is a very correct puncher whos defence is getting better everytime out. I agree that both can be world champions.
The country's top three for the future for sure.

Re: gavin , degale and saunders
I think Gavin will change his style as he goes up in class. He is an excellent boxer, and will pay to his strentghs rather than the all out aggression he is using at the moment.

Re: gavin , degale and saunders
Gavin and Degale tied for first place
Jeffries,
saunders,
Price.....all lag some way behind.
I'm sure that Degale and Gavin have genuine world championship potential, i don't think thats the case with the other 3. Don't rate them too highly.

Re: gavin , degale and saunders
degale's the best of the 3.
gavin is decent.
still can't shake off the way he was well schooled by kindelan back in the day.
probably harsh given the fact he was only still a teenager at the time.
degale has that extra touch of class, carries a decent dig and looks a tough sort.
convinced he'd win the british title if warren put him straight in.
although i also think gavin would win it to tbh.

yeah i did question in the post if i was being harsh.
it was just the manner of the defeat.
got dropped and soundly outboxed.
just makes ya wonder when it gets to the nitty gritty end of it in the pro's.
but yeah it was a long time ago and i accept all that.

Don't forget Joe Murray, he doesn't seem to of caught the publics eye. And seems to be the forgotten man so far.
I can see him doing very well, looks to have good skills and the punch power is improving

Re: gavin , degale and saunders
Personally, off what I have seen, I would have DeGale as being the most naturally gifted out of them all, but his attitude stinks.
I would put DeGale just ever so slightly ahead of Gavin, then agree with the rest of the positions. I would maybe put George Groves in there slightly above Jeffries off Jeffries last poor showing where he seemed to run out of ideas.

Re: gavin , degale and saunders
Gavin- So class and has adapted better to the pro's than I thought.
DeGale- Has impressed me with some of his performances.
Saunders- Body shots are brilliant and he is a heavy puncher with good boxing ability.
Price- Hasnt had enough fights but has looked good in the one's he has had
Jeffries- Looks talented and very big and strong at the weight

I see that Bradley Saunders is still amateur, he's in the squad for the Euro's in June
