Sykes/O'hara
Sykes/O'hara
Just wondering what you guys across the pond think of this one. Sykes appears to be the better more talented boxer. O'hara looks like gritty brawler type from the little footage I've seen of him. McGuigan thinks O'hara can spring the upset but being Irish, perhaps he's a tad biased. I like Sykes by UD in a spirited fight. Any opinions would be appreciated
Re: Sykes/O'hara
Sweetpea always seems to fall short when he steps it up a level. Sykes has a good win over Morris but apart from that is relatively inexperienced at the British level. I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Hara using his big fight experience to nick this one but like Barry Mc I am biased. Either way I can see this being a tight 12 round decision.

Dewsbury dynamo Gary Sykes defends his newly won British super-featherweight title against Belfast's Kevin O’Hara in Huddersfield on May 28.
Sykes won the title, also in Huddersfield, with a pulsating 12-round decision over former British featherweight champion Andy Morris in March. The pair threw a ton of shots but the 26-year-old Sykes - the fresher man - would not be denied in front of his Yorkshire fans and looks a great prospect at 15-0, a former ABA champion to boot. He is big and strong for the weight, eager for a scrap and improving all the time.
O'Hara also knows his way around a ring and went the full 12 rounds in a crack at the Commonwealth super-featherweight title held by Ricky Burns last year, dropping a close but unanimous decision. O'Hara is seasoned, willing, clever and always in great shape under trainer John Breen, but he does tend to lose the big ones. As well as Burns, O'Hara has been outscored by Choi Tsveveenpurev, Willie Limond, Eddie Hyland and Henry Castle, although nobody has ever stopped him.
Frankly, he looks up against it here. The busier, stronger Sykes outscores him.

O'Hara has been bustin his chops and really going for this one. He sees it as shít or bust!
The fight is sure to go the distance but expect fireworks.
I interviewed him and John today so will have an article for irish-boxing.com tommorrow.
