Prizefighter - Ricky Owen's chances ???

Post by FLINT ISLAND »

Interesting next Saturday in Prize Fighter.

Unbeaten Ricky Owen from Swansea is fighting.

I have known of Owen since he turned professional - but have never seen him fight.

He was described by the local Swansea press as "the best prospect from Swansea since Colin Jones" - the 1970's and 80's Welterweight who trained at the boxing shed behind my garden.

He is unbeaten in 11 fights - looked at his record - he hasnt seemed to have fought anyone of real note.

But he has done what has been asked of him so far - unexposed - hungry young fighter.

But this is the real test - up against the likes of vastly expericed vetran Wayne McCollough who has shared the ring with some of the worlds best fighters.

Just wondering - how do you think this Ricky Owen will do ?

Who do you think will win this Prizefighter on May 29th ?

He has been unlucky that he is hard to match without a big promoter behind him. On form he would be a real threat but a year out of the ring will mean he will have to take weight off and will be short on fitness, makes things tough, Ricky is real talented tho

Boylesports have Owen as 3/1 favourite. They were the odds even with Wayne in the mix.

Not seen Owen fight but I see that there's quite a few good unbeaten fighters in the mix this time and the Irish guy who's replaced Wayne is a really good up and coming fighter.

Wow

I didnt expect him to be favorite with some of the names in there.

Esham Pickering, Wayne McCollough, etc

Now Wayne is out - the real top name is gone - so this seems more open.

I wouldnt have had either of those two favourite anyway.Lyon,Owen and Wale will be hard to beat over three rounds and will be able to handle the format easily i reckon.I dont think the draw has been made yet,but if any of those three are on opposite sides,i will be backing both
