Well, my Boxrec.com T-Shirt arrived yesterday morning and I have to admit I am very pleased with it.
Has anyone else here ordered one?
I just find the mental image of countless fight fans logging onto this site from all over the World to talk Boxing, and all wearing the same T-Shirt amusing!!
I have to agree with Neil, not really my cup of tea. I've got offered a free t shirt at another site where I post - haven't said yes to that. But will probably as it is free.
Seems a bit of a cheek really. its posters who make this site. by decent posts or debates whe attract more members. more members means greater interest, greater interest means advertising and advertising mean money.
this site is generally recognised as the best site on the web, and its the people who have posted here regularly and the quality of the posts that make it what it is. seems a bit much asking us to shell out the best part of 20 notes (inc p and p) for a tshirt to advertise it too.
what about chucking out a few freebies to consistently good posters or those who have been here and contributed a while or even the scottish ones from edinburgh with around 834 posts (not including the couple of hundred ones lost when the site went tits up!), who joined on march 6th 2004 and who maybe dont post as much as they used to because they are busy at work as psychiatric nurses!!
We we've been labelled anoraks in the past, I'm not going to go round showing people "Hey, look at me I'm an anorak". I wouldn't buy a boxing monthly t shirt either. Thats the reason why I haven't said yes to the free t shirt I have been offered but might take that up to wear as "round the house" clothing.
Good comment there Owen, I'm not saying Boxrec are wrong to try and sell t-shirts and I'm sure there will be a few who will buy. Just don't think I will buy because not really my scene. Plain t-shirts I would consider.
I used to collect big fight t-shirts, the decent ones anyway - though not too many of those about to be honest. ( I'm sitting here in a ODH/Quartey one at moment ) JCC v Whitaker, with the Alamo backdrop aint bad. Lonsdale used to do good ones in the 80's, but they're 100% crap as of late.
Noticed these excellent Everlast ones about recently - do they sell em in the UK? These are some of the best I've seen in ages - the old timer image ones I mean -

How about when you buy the t-shirt they put your username on the back or something.
Then when your at a big fight you wear it and people can put a face to piece you`ve written and approach you.
Then other members who didn`t wear a boxrec t-shirt can write a thread about how an anorak wearing a Boxrec t-shirt got sparked by that crap wanker boxer who should have retired 6yrs ago.
